If you want to build something that lasts, start with the ROOT. š³
In the chakra system, the root chakra represents our foundationāsafety, security, stability, belonging, family, community, and our ability to feel grounded in this world.
Different spiritual traditions may use different language to describe our need for a strong foundation. The chakra tradition speaks of being grounded and rooted. Scripture also uses the powerful imagery of roots, trees, water, and a foundation that can withstand difficult seasons.
One of my favorites is:
āThey will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes⦠It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.ā ā Jeremiah 17:7ā8
Whatever language resonates with you, there is wisdom here:
Your roots matter.
The tree isn't promised a life without heat. It isn't promised there won't be drought. It isn't promised there won't be storms.
Its ability to endure comes from whereāand how deeplyāit is rooted.
And so does ours.
What grounds you when life gets hard? Where do you experience safety and belonging? Who is your community? What truths and values are you rooted in? What brings you back to God, Spirit, love, peace, or simply back home to yourself?
A strong root doesn't mean you'll never be shaken.
It means being shaken doesn't have to uproot you.
So before reaching higher, go deeper.
Strengthen your foundation. Protect your peace. Create safety. Nurture healthy relationships. Choose your community wisely. Know what you believe. Know who you are. And plant your roots somewhere worthy of the life you want to grow.
š± ROOT CHAKRA CHECK-IN:
Ask yourself today:
What in my foundation needs strengtheningāand what is one action I can take TODAY to strengthen it?
Maybe it's setting a boundary. Calling someone you love. Creating more stability in your home. Returning to a spiritual practice. Walking barefoot outside. Leaving an environment that continually destabilizes you. Or simply reminding yourself what you stand for.
Don't just identify it.
Do one thing today that strengthens your roots.
Because we don't build strong lives from the branches down.
We build them from the roots up. š³
