🩺 Our doctors don’t just practice medicine — they help teach it!

This morning, Dr. Michael Esposito, Medical Director of Interventional Spine & Pain Institute, is teaching Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners how to interpret spine MRIs at the 2026 Florida Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (FSIPP) Annual Conference.

Understanding what an MRI shows — and how those findings relate to a patient’s symptoms — is an important part of evaluating and treating spine conditions.

We’re proud to have Dr. Esposito sharing his knowledge and experience with fellow healthcare professionals!

Continuing education, collaboration, and a commitment to better patient care.

💙 Happy APP Week!

I’m fortunate to work alongside a great group of Advanced Practice Providers here at ISPI.

Our APP team includes Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners who work closely with our physicians, clinical staff, and each other to care for our patients across all three of our locations.

This week, I’m celebrating my fellow APPs — John Welch, Paul Lopreato, Nate Soter, and Elizabeth Lowery — and I’m proud to be part of this team with them.

APPs bring different backgrounds, training, and experience to the table, but we share the same goal: helping our patients understand their conditions, navigate their treatment options, and hopefully get back to doing more of what matters to them.

Happy APP Week to my colleagues at ISPI and to all the PAs and NPs out there doing this work every day! 💙

💗 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

We may specialize in interventional spine and pain management, but caring for our community goes far beyond the conditions we treat every day.

Breast cancer has touched so many of our lives. We have mothers, sisters, daughters, wives, friends, coworkers and patients who have faced a breast cancer diagnosis—and we know how important awareness and appropriate screening can be.

This month, Team ISPI is wearing a little extra pink as a reminder: pay attention to your health, know what is normal for you, and talk with your healthcare provider about the breast cancer screening schedule that is appropriate for you.

And if there is someone in your life who has been putting it off, give them a little nudge. 💗

To everyone currently undergoing treatment, those who have completed it, the families supporting them, and those we remember—we see you and we support you.

Do your feet burn, tingle, hurt—or sometimes feel strangely numb?

For people living with diabetes, these symptoms can sometimes be related to diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN), a type of nerve damage that commonly affects the feet and legs.

Symptoms can include:
* Burning or shooting pain
* Tingling or “pins and needles”
* Numbness
* Increased sensitivity—even something as light as a bedsheet touching the feet can hurt
* Weakness or problems with balance Some people have significant pain, while others gradually lose sensation.

That loss of feeling is important too, because injuries or sores on the feet may go unnoticed. If you have diabetes and are experiencing new or worsening symptoms in your feet, talk with your healthcare provider.

Not every case of foot pain or numbness is caused by diabetic neuropathy, and an appropriate evaluation matters.

Want to learn more? 💙

We have two FREE patient education events next week for people who want to learn more about painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy and spinal cord stimulation (SCS) as a potential treatment option.

A great evening of patient education in Palm Bay! 💙

Thank you to everyone who joined Melissa Burgos, MD, and Patrick from Boston Scientific last night for a conversation about painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy and spinal cord stimulation (SCS).

Understanding your condition—and knowing what treatment options may be available—is an important part of making informed decisions about your care. We appreciate everyone who came out, asked questions, and spent the evening learning with us.

Trae a tu mamá. Trae a tu papá. Trae a tus abuelos.
Si conoces a alguien con diabetes que vive con dolor, ardor, hormigueo o entumecimiento en los pies, comparte esta información con esa persona.
