You can know that you need to slow down and still have a really hard time doing it.

Especially when you’ve spent years feeling anxious, overthinking, or constantly on alert.

Sometimes your mind is ready to relax, but your body hasn’t quite caught up.

Reiki offers a quiet space to rest, without having to talk, explain, or figure anything out.

And for someone who isn’t used to slowing down, that can be a pretty unfamiliar feeling.

There’s no expectation of how you should feel. Just an opportunity to experience something different.

Maybe inner child work isn’t always about going back and trying to understand everything that happened.

Maybe sometimes it’s about bringing that younger version of you forward and into the life you’ve created now.

Letting her finally see and “feel” the home that is safe.
The boundaries she’s allowed to have.
The voice she’s allowed to use.
The choices she gets to make now.

And reminding her, as many times as she needs:

You are loved.
You are allowed to say no.
You can trust yourself.
I’m listening.
I’m here.
You are safe now.

Sometimes we can know we’re safe before we’re able to truly feel it and reiki can be a space to slow down enough to let that safety in. ❤️

I’ve been a little quieter on here lately.

Life has been full, and I’ve found myself slowing down, being more present, and just spending less time on social media.

And honestly, I think the break has been good for me. 🤍

But I’m still here.

Still giving Reiki.
Still holding space.
Still doing work that I really love.

Maybe you’ve been feeling the need to slow down a little too.

I’d love to see you this fall. 🍂

People often ask me how I became a reiki practitioner.

The truth is, it wasn’t something I ever planned.

Years before I ever became a practitioner, I booked a reiki session. I remember walking out thinking, “What just happened?” I couldn’t explain what I had experienced, and honestly, I wasn’t sure what I thought about it.

I didn’t think about Reiki again for years.

A few years later, after my second son was born, I was struggling postpartum. I didn’t feel like myself, and I knew I needed something. One afternoon, while I was driving, I had the thought, “Maybe I should give reiki another shot.”

As I finished that thought, a car pulled in front of me.

The license plate read REIKI.

Whether you believe in signs or think it was simply a coincidence, it was enough for me to make the appointment.

I found a practitioner I really connected with and started seeing her consistently. Those sessions became part of my own healing, and over time they sparked a curiosity to learn more.

That curiosity led me to Reiki I, then Reiki II, and eventually Reiki Master.

I never took those classes because I thought I’d one day have a Reiki business. I took them because I wanted to understand something that had become such an important part of my own healing.

If someone had told me back then that one appointment would eventually become my career, I never would have believed them.

Looking back now, I’m so grateful I decided to make that appointment.✨❤️

One thing I didn’t expect when I bought Luna was how much she would make me aware of myself.

I’ve ridden horses my whole life, but this experience has been different. She’s made me notice my breathing, the tension I hold in my body, how often I’m thinking ahead instead of staying present, and how quickly my body changes without me even realizing it.

Healing her has required me to pay attention to myself in a way I haven’t in a while. It’s reminded me that even when we know the tools and do the work, it’s so easy to slip back into old patterns without even realizing it.

It’s something I witness with my clients all the time, and while I’m being honest, I still experience it too.

This has just been a real-life example of how constant this work really is. And I don’t mean that in an overwhelming way. I actually find it rewarding because I’m able to acknowledge when I’m not present, when I’m holding my breath, or when I’m carrying tension. Once I notice it, I can choose differently.

I think that’s the point… not expecting myself to always get it right, but becoming aware a little sooner each time.

I’ve noticed that when I’m uncomfortable with a decision, I tend to keep looking outside myself.

Another opinion. Another book. Another perspective.

Sometimes that’s wisdom. Sometimes it’s avoiding what I already know.

I’ve spent a lot of time looking for reassurance around decisions I’d already made in my gut.

Turns out, I usually knew. I was just waiting for someone else to agree. I’m getting better at listening sooner.

I’ve been seeing a lot more conversation lately around dysregulated children and nervous system regulation.

And yes, I do think parents regulating themselves matters. Kids absolutely pick up on our energy.

But I also think some parents are carrying a lot of shame because they’ve done the work. They are trying. They are reading the books, staying patient, co-regulating, getting support… and their child is still struggling.

Some kids are not simply “acting out.” Some are truly overwhelmed internally.

Sometimes there are deeper layers:
processing differences
sensory sensitivities
visual processing or vision challenges
anxiety
executive functioning struggles

I think one of the biggest shifts can happen when we stop looking at everything as behavior and start getting curious about what may be going on underneath the surface.

You can be a loving, calm parent and still have a child who struggles with regulation.

This is also why I feel so passionate about nervous system support for both children and parents. Sometimes support that helps the body feel calmer and more regulated can make the hard moments feel a little less overwhelming for everyone involved.
