As the trees outside begin to shed what they no longer need for the cold season ahead, we are reminded of how our own bodies hold onto their seasons.
Long before you had words, you had touch.
When we enter this world, our skin is our primary interface with reality, much like the outer bark of a tree, it is the boundary where we learn whether it is safe to unfold or whether we need to brace against the chill. Every gentle hold, every moment of warmth, and every season of tension you’ve navigated has left an imprint in your tissues.
Your skin is a direct portal to your nervous system, packed with thousands of sensory nerve endings designed to listen. It doesn't just protect you from the outside world; it remembers your story, holding the harvest of everything you’ve carried.
When you sit in a state of chronic stress, your skin and the fascia beneath it can feel like heavy winter armor, holding tight to keep you safe. But autumn teaches us that holding on forever isn't sustainable.
In our bodywork sessions, we don’t use force to break that armor or strip those layers away. We listen to the story your body carries. Through slow, intentional, and grounded touch, we send a clear message directly to your nervous system: The harvest is gathered. You can drop the weight now. You are safe here.
Take a slow, extended exhale and let your shoulders drop a fraction of an inch right now. Just as the earth prepares to rest in the dark half of the year, your body deserves a soft landing pad, too. Your vessel has carried you through so much, it’s okay to lay down your armor and let yourself be held. 🍂
