7 ENERGY WORK MYTHS —
LET’S CLEAR THEM UP
1. “You have to believe in energy work for it to work.”
You don’t. Be curious. Be open. Simply notice what you experience. Be intentional to receiving.
2. “You shouldn’t shower or bathe after an energy session.”
You can. There’s no need to avoid water after Reiki or energy work. Do what feels supportive and grounding.
3. “You should never send energy without someone’s permission.”
I believe energy work should be approached with respect, intention and boundaries—not as a way to control someone else’s experience. You can send well wishes always.
4. “One session should fix everything.”
Energy work isn’t a magic reset button. One session may help you relax, feel clearer or more connected. Your own process continues beyond the session. Do always recommend follow up.
5. “There’s no research around energy work.”
There is research, although evidence varies by modality and outcome. That’s why I don’t make promises about what energy work will “heal”.
It is supportive and complimentary to other modalities.
6. “People who use energy work reject medical care.”
They don’t have to. Energy work can be complementary to appropriate medical care—it isn’t a replacement for it. I use it often on my oncology patients.
7. “Chakras can only be balanced in person.”
Energy practices can also be explored through meditation, breath, visualization, sound and self-practice. Which can be done virtually.
My approach?
No fear. No exaggerated promises. Tailored to the clients that are with me to receive.
Just intentional space to slow down, reconnect and notice where they are. Safe Space.
Sometimes you don’t have to understand it first.
You can simply experience it.
Please reach out for questions or to schedule💛 Energy work is complementary and not a substitute for medical or mental health care.
Warmly, Tracy
