Art inspired by the community, for the community. 🎨💙

At the new Lusardi Tower at Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas, artwork inspired by San Diego brings familiar landscapes, colors and local stories into the hospital.

Regional artists, donors and community members all played a role in bringing these spaces to life through the Scripps Arts for Healing Program, helping create moments of calm, comfort and connection for patients, families and staff.

Our facilities and engineering teams help make sure our hospitals and clinics are safe, comfortable and ready for the people who rely on them. They oversee critical systems, respond when issues come up and take care of countless details throughout our facilities.

During Healthcare Facilities and Engineering Week, we’re giving some well-deserved recognition to the teams who help make it all possible.

Thank you for everything you do for Scripps!

This Respiratory Therapy Week, we’re taking a moment to breathe and appreciate our Scripps respiratory therapists.

They care for patients when breathing becomes difficult — providing respiratory treatments, managing ventilators and bringing specialized expertise to emergency departments, intensive care units and other areas throughout our hospitals.

Thank you to our Scripps RTs for everything you do to help our patients breathe a little easier.

Choosing a health plan? Start by thinking about the care you want.

Your monthly premium matters, but so does having access to the doctors, specialists, hospitals and services that are important to you and your family.

Anil Keswani, MD, corporate senior vice president and chief medical and operations officer for ambulatory care at Scripps Health, explains what to consider during open enrollment — from primary and specialty care to hospital access, virtual visits and everyday convenience.

Before you enroll, learn what to look for in a health plan:

Consider doctors, hospitals and care options before enrolling.

Health challenges can bring questions, uncertainty, grief and difficult decisions. That’s where spiritual care professionals can help. 💙

Across Scripps, our spiritual care teams provide support to patients and families of all faiths, beliefs and spiritual traditions, including those who do not identify with a particular faith. They offer a listening presence, help people find comfort and meaning and provide support during illness, loss and other challenging moments.

During Spiritual Care Week, we’re recognizing these important members of our care teams and thanking them for being there for our patients and families when they need support.

October is National Physical Therapy Month! đź’™

Physical therapists help patients improve movement, regain strength, manage pain and get back to the activities that matter to them. From recovering after surgery or an injury to managing ongoing conditions, their work is an important part of care and recovery.

This month, we recognize our Scripps physical therapists and the difference they make for patients every day.

Breast implants don’t replace the need for regular breast cancer screenings.

Women with implants should generally follow the same mammogram screening guidelines based on their age and individual risk factors. The mammogram itself may look a little different, with additional images and special positioning used to capture as much breast tissue as possible.

For Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Ray Lin, MD, a radiation oncologist at Scripps Cancer Center and Scripps Clinic, answers common questions about mammograms with implants, including concerns about implant rupture, radiation exposure and 3D mammograms.

Have implants? Here’s what to know before your next mammogram: www.scripps.org/5498f

Yes - but find a breast care center that has the necessary expertise.

Preparing for a new baby is a big moment for the whole family. đź’™

A birth plan helps parents-to-be think through what matters most to them during labor and delivery, including who they want in the room, pain relief options, music and care after their baby arrives.

Of course, babies have a way of making their own plans. A birth plan isn’t meant to predict exactly how delivery will go, but it can help parents feel prepared and communicate what matters to them with their care team.

Have a new baby joining your family soon? Download our guide to planning the birth of your baby and share it with the parents-to-be in your life: www.scripps.org/5841f
