🎀 Patient Spotlight: Eunice Young 🎀

This October, for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re honoring a woman who inspires us every time we see her: Miss Eunice Young.

Miss Young recently rang the bell, celebrating the end of her chemotherapy treatment. She has officially beaten breast cancer! 🔔

It’s an honor for our wound care team to be part of her care. She has shown strength, grace, and a spirit that lights up the room. Treatment is a long and demanding road, and she walked it with courage.

Miss Young, we are so proud of you and so happy for you. Congratulations from all of us! 💗

To everyone reading: please schedule your mammogram and encourage the women in your life to do the same. Early detection saves lives.

Patient Spotlight: Melba Knight🌷

After a year of healing, Melba is heading home.

Melba Knight was working in her yard when she fell and injured her foot. What began as a fall became a long, difficult road. After the initial treatment, her wound was wrapped and she was transferred to the facility, where the care team took one look at it and knew it needed serious attention right away. There was a real possibility she could lose her foot. For a woman who loves being on her feet and out in her yard, it was frightening news.

Healing did not come in a straight line. Over the past year, Melba made progress, hit setbacks, and kept going. With Dr. Roberts and the wound care team beside her, her wound has finally healed.

Asked whether she would recommend Dr. Roberts to others facing a difficult wound, Melba didn't hesitate. "Oh, I sure would." What stood out to her was that he is a good doctor who keeps his word and means what he says.

When asked what it means to finally be healed, Melba was moved to tears, and so was everyone in the room. Her case is exactly why our team does what we do.

Now Melba is looking forward to the simple things: going home to her husband, sleeping in her own bed, and seeing her kitty cats.

Congratulations, Melba. We are so proud of you and so glad to celebrate this milestone with you.

Today is World Alzheimer's Day. 💜

Every day, our team walks into long-term care facilities to provide wound care for patients, many of whom are living with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. We see the impact of this disease up close, not only on the patients, but on the families and caregivers who love them.
