🩷 Last week, we hosted a Event at Petersburg Senior Apartments.
Breast cancer can affect anyone, and awareness should too. Men and women joined us to learn the signs and why early screening matters. Survivors shared their stories with the group. Their courage encouraged others who had been hesitant to get screened.
Meanwhile in Ward 3, staff and residents of Friendship Terrace laced up for a walk in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness. Together, they showed their support for everyone affected by breast cancer and helped raise awareness throughout the community.
Thank you to Alessea Young, RN, of Know Your Lemons for leading an informative workshop. We’re also grateful to DC Health, the DC Health Prevention Team, Plants and Blooms, DC Prevention of Blindness Society, Breast Care for Washington, Age-in-Place®, and all the volunteers who made the day a success.
