Smoking is a risky game, especially when your heart is on the line.

Every cigarette stacks the deck against your heart, damaging blood vessels, raising blood pressure, and increasing the risk of heart disease. You might think you are holding a winning hand, but smoking changes the odds.

Don’t gamble with your heart. Play your best hand by choosing less harmful alternatives like FDA-approved Ni****ne Replacement Therapy (NRT) products instead of ci******es. Quitting is hard, pero paso a paso, you can reduce the negative health effects from to***co related products.

To continue advancing Hispanic health in the United States, our President, Dr. Elena Rios with our Policy Intern visited the office of Rep. Don Davis to talk about the bipartisan legislation H.R. 1672 called the Maintaining Investments in New Innovation Act (MINI Act). The MINI Act is also needed to increase care for rare diseases in the United States. In addition, Dr. Rios discussed topics concerning rural healthcare workforce issues and the transparency needed in the 340B Drug Pricing Program for the betterment of the Hispanic community.

NHHF remains committed to engaging with policymakers to advance policies that support a healthier future for Hispanic communities across the United States.

About 2 in 5 New Mexicans rely on Medicaid, and most of them can’t get the most effective obesity treatments available today.

That gap falls hardest on Hispanic and Native American families, rural communities, and households earning under $25,000 a year. It’s also costly. Obesity-related conditions already cost New Mexico more than $2 billion a year, and leaving obesity untreated leads to more type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and other chronic conditions down the road.

Gov. Lujan Grisham has a chance to close that gap. Learn more here: https://bit.ly/4hQpoGO
