Did you wake up this morning in a funk and/or not feeling your best? Did you ask yourself "Wtf is going on? I just woke up. Why am I in such a funk?" When this happens to me, not just in the morning, but whenever I find myself in that mode of thinking, I find 3 to 5 things that I'm grateful for and I take a few moments to just focus on that. These days, there's alot going on. But through all of this I realized how I had become rigid. Over the last few years, no matter what I did, I really didn't allow myself to truly enjoy anything. I mean for no reason other than to simply enjoy, to be fully present in the moment. I made the decision awhile ago to simply Consciously REFOCUS. I've read a ton of books and I've taken quite a few classes over the years. But I forgot to enjoy the process. To sit and rest and consistently do things that inspire me.

Today, I challenge you to do something that excites you and brings you joy just because. This is usually inexpensive. If you can't think of anything, take some time to sit, be still and relax a bit. Give yourself permission to just allow.

Does it seem difficult to allow yourself to truly enjoy? Do you hear that voice in the background telling you why you can't or shouldn't? Do you feel like you need permission for someone to let you know it's ok?

It's ok! Go ahead, I dare you.

Today I went to the store and bought some paint. I allowed myself to be creative just because. Wow, I hadn't done this in awhile.

This is what inspired my post.

Yesterday was wonderful and full of surprises. I completed the Porsche Around the Track Race. I improved my fastest 5K time by over 2 minutes and I placed 2nd in my age group. Not too bad. Yeah, I'm the one with the huge shirt, but great smile.

When we undergo the stress of physical exercise, our body adapts and becomes more efficient. It’s just like learning any new skill; at first, it’s difficult, but over time it becomes second-nature. Once you adapt to a given stress, you require additional stress to continue to make progress. There are limits to how much stress the body can tolerate before it breaks down and risks injury. One of the things I continue to learn as time goes on is not to judge myself whether its in or out of sport. I'm learning to become more aware. During competition, we know what to do. That's why we practice. Trust and allow your body to do what it knows how to do. Stop thinking and telling yourself what to do; turn off your mind and just be aware of what your body is doing. In tennis, focus on your body, your racket and the ball. In life, focus on your goal and trust that you'll get there. Each day do At least one thing that will bring you closer to your goal.
