Every patient’s experience with babesiosis is unique.

A patient hospitalized with babesiosis faces a different challenge from someone whose infection keeps returning. Others are living with severe fatigue that continues long after the initial illness.

That’s why we’re studying tafenoquine across three areas: severe acute babesiosis, persistent or relapsing infection, and chronic babesiosis with severe fatigue.

Each clinical trial is designed to answer a different question about where tafenoquine may help and which patients could benefit. Together, they can give clinicians stronger evidence for forms of babesiosis that remain difficult to treat.

See the three areas we’re studying in the graphic, and explore our clinical trials at 60degreespharma.com.

Patient stories helped bring tafenoquine into the babesiosis research conversation.

In this clip from The Healing Grove, Dr. Geoff Dow explains why listening to patients is an important starting point. Clinical trials can then test whether the benefits they describe hold up across a larger group.

What happens when your experience with babesiosis doesn’t match the textbook description?

For many patients, that means years without answers and care.

Most patients improve with standard treatment, but not every case follows the same path. Some infections can return, some are difficult to diagnose, and some patients continue struggling even when they do not fit the usual “high-risk” profile.

A narrow understanding of babesiosis can leave those patients falling through the cracks.

Swipe through three myths we need to clear up, and learn how we’re studying acute, relapsing, and chronic babesiosis at the link in our bio.

Chronic fatigue is more than feeling tired after a late night.

Imagine waking up exhausted, pushing through the day, and needing days to recover from it.

For many people living with chronic fatigue, that’s daily life. It can affect their ability to work, make plans, and do the things they want to do.

Severe, persistent fatigue is also a focus of our B-FREE clinical trial for chronic babesiosis. We’re studying whether treating Babesia infection with tafenoquine may help patients recover from fatigue.

60 Degrees Pharmaceuticals is heading to the LymeBytes! Symposium this November!

Join us November 13–14, 2026, in Pompano Beach, Florida, for two days of education, collaboration, and conversation focused on Lyme disease, coinfections, and complex chronic illness.

We look forward to connecting with the clinicians, researchers, and innovators working to advance our understanding of tick-borne diseases and improve care for the patients affected by them.

In high-risk patients with severe or persistent infection, relapse may affect up to 1 in 2.

Read that again: up to 50% of patients in this high-risk group may have the infection return after treatment.

For some, that means another course of treatment. For others, treatment may continue for months or even years.

It’s clear that both patients and clinicians need better evidence to guide care when babesiosis keeps coming back.

We’re studying tafenoquine as a potential option for persistent and relapsing babesiosis. Learn more about our clinical research at the link in our bio.

Babesiosis doesn’t always look the way people expect.

In this clip, shares the story of a patient whose symptoms led him to consider Babesia as a possible diagnosis.

Her experience shows why awareness needs to include the many ways this infection can appear, especially as babesiosis reaches more communities. Recognizing the possibility sooner may help patients get answers sooner.

We’re grateful to Dr. Horowitz for sharing her story and for his continued work in this field. We’re working to advance babesiosis research and study better treatment options for patients who need them.

We’re heading to Dulles for the 2026 ILADS Annual Scientific Conference – and can’t wait to connect with the physicians and researchers working to improve care for people with tick-borne diseases.

CEO and founder, Dr. Geoff Dow, will be presenting an update on our tafenoquine clinical development program for babesiosis. He’ll share recent data from our ongoing trials and discuss what we’re learning about Babesia infection and illness.

The map of tick-borne disease risk is changing.

Blacklegged ticks are covering more ground – bringing the diseases they can transmit into more communities.

By 2015, blacklegged ticks were established in approximately twice as many U.S. counties as they were in 1996.

That means more people may now be living, working, hiking, and raising families in places where exposure to Lyme disease and co-infections such as babesiosis is possible.

It also means old assumptions about where tick-borne diseases occur may no longer reflect the full picture.

As the ticks move, awareness has to move with them. Because knowing that risk exists is the first step toward recognizing an infection sooner.

By the end of 2023, the evidence surrounding tafenoquine and babesiosis had reached an important turning point.

Laboratory studies, animal research, and early patient cases had given researchers a reason to keep looking.

But promising early evidence can only take us so far.

The next step was to study tafenoquine in a more structured way – with real patients experiencing different forms of babesiosis.

In this clip, 60 Degrees Pharmaceuticals Founder, Dr. Geoff Dow, explains how that growing body of research led us to launch three clinical trials evaluating tafenoquine across severe acute, relapsing, and chronic babesiosis.

Huge thanks to Dr. Karlfeldt and for this important conversation!
