Ive studied Yoga for years.

1000s of articles read
THIS MANY books studied, probably more
1000s of flows crafted
5000+ hrs of yoga taught
850 Hours of Continuing Education/ Additional Certifications earned

And that’s just what was counted.

When you come to my class, you’re not just paying for an hour of yoga. You’re investing in the years of knowledge, experience, practice, and dedication go into that hour.

You’re paying for the thought behind the sequence, the intention behind the instruction, and the expertise that helps me guide you through the practice.

The class might last an hour
but the work behind it took years.

This is a message I had hoped I’d never have to send, but after weeks of pain management and physical therapy, we’ve reached a point where something else needs to change.

For the next three weeks, you’ll notice I’ll be cutting back on some of my classes and temporarily adjusting my evening schedule. You’ll also see subs on the schedule here and there during this time.

The greatest way you can support me is by continuing to come to the studio and take the classes available. I won’t be teaching from the mat but I know y’all have love the extra of hands on assists during this time. 🙂

If you pray, meditate, send healing vibes, whatever you do, I’ll take them. ❤️

Cutting back is difficult for me, but right now, reducing my teaching is the next step I need to take to give my body a chance to heal and move forward.

Thank you for your understanding and for continuing to show up for our studio.

I’ve been a little quieter and a little less present around the studio lately, and rather than answering the same questions over and over, I figured I’d just share a little life update here.

It really started around Free Week. I intentionally stepped away from a chunk of my classes to give some of our other instructors the opportunity to teach and be seen. I expected to step back in afterward, but life had some other plans.

During my time off, I injured my back and hip, and I’ve been trying to navigate that while still teaching, running the studio, leading yoga teacher training, homeschooling my kids and doing all the normal life things.

Then my family experienced an incredibly difficult and unexpected loss of my brother in law.

And most recently, I was T-boned in the middle of an intersection by someone who ran a red light. Thankfully, I’m here. But physically and emotionally, it’s been a lot in a relatively short amount of time.

I’m sharing this here mostly because I know people have noticed my absence and because otherwise I find myself answering these questions many times throughout the day. I truly appreciate every person who has checked in, asked how I’m doing, or wondered where I’ve been. I know it comes from a place of care. At the same time, talking about all of it over and over can be a lot, too.

So consider this my little blanket update: I’m here.

I’m taking care of myself. I’m giving myself some room to move through a season I definitely didn’t see coming.

And I’m slowly finding my way back. ❤️

Yoga reaches beyond our studio walls. 💛

Through **The Maitri Initiative of Gray Lane**, we get to share movement, mindfulness, and connection with the kids at the Boys & Girls Club of the Cedar Valley.

Thank you for the shoutout and for welcoming us back into your community for another year! We’re grateful for the chance to help these kids explore ways to feel strong, find calm, and be themselves.

It’s probably obvious that I’ve canceled more classes lately than I ever have before. I haven’t wanted to make a big deal about it, but unfortunately, it has become a big deal.

About a month ago, I injured my hip. I thought it might go away on its own, so I kept going. After several weeks of trying different things without much improvement, I finally went to the doctor for answers.

I start physical therapy tomorrow.

I absolutely hate canceling classes. I feel guilty every time. But I’m eating my own words right now: it’s time for me to listen to my body.

It’s funny…I spend so much time teaching people how to be present in their bodies, and sometimes I forget to exist within my own.

Thank you for being so flexible and understanding through the cancellations. I know your time matters, too. I’m hoping physical therapy will help me find a way forward, and in the meantime, I’m going to practice what I teach.

I’ll see you in the studio, teaching off mat rather than on.
🤍

**Tonight’s 5:30 class is canceled.**

For the past few weeks, I’ve been teaching more off the mat while dealing with a hip injury, and “listen to your body” has become a pretty fitting theme in class. Well, my hip took a turn for the worse today, and I ended up at the hospital this afternoon. I’m still waiting on tests, so I won’t make it back in time to teach.

I tried to find someone to cover, but with such short notice, no one was available. I’m sorry for the last-minute change.

I’m glad I listened to my own advice this week, even if I didn’t expect the lesson to land quite like this. 💚
