🎀 LET’S TALK HONESTLY ABOUT HORMONES & BREAST CANCER

Not all hormone therapy is the same.

The Women’s Health Initiative studied specific hormone formulations, including CEE + MPA. At Elite Hormones, treatment may include bioidentical hormones such as 17β-estradiol and micronized progesterone when clinically appropriate.

Testosterone may also be considered for some women. There is currently no FDA-approved testosterone product specifically for women in the U.S.

The important point: bioidentical does not mean risk-free, and hormone therapy should never be one-size-fits-all.

Individual risk depends on personal and family history, age, timing, hormone type, dose, duration, and appropriate breast screening.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a reminder that breast health is about more than simply scheduling a mammogram—it starts with understanding your individual risk.

At Elite Hormones, breast cancer risk assessment is part of our initial evaluation for our female patients. One of the tools we use is the National Cancer Institute Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Tool (BCRAT), also known as the Gail Model.

The NCI tool uses information including age, reproductive history, previous breast biopsies, and breast cancer history in first-degree relatives to estimate a woman's 5-year and lifetime risk of developing invasive breast cancer.

Knowing your estimated risk can help start an important conversation with your healthcare provider about what screening and follow-up may be appropriate for you.
