💙 Celebrating Abilities, Independence & Possibilities!

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month, and at Daymark Living, we believe every individual deserves the opportunity to grow, discover their strengths, build meaningful friendships, and live life with purpose.

For adults with Down syndrome and other intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), independence looks different for everyone. It might mean learning a new life skill, taking on responsibilities, building confidence, or simply enjoying everyday moments with friends.

And as you can see, our Daymark residents are making the most of those moments! 💙

At Daymark Living in Waxahachie, Texas, we're proud to provide a supportive residential community where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities can develop independent living skills, experience new opportunities, and celebrate their accomplishments along the way.

Because independence isn't about doing everything alone. It's about having the opportunity and support to do more for yourself.

Mondays with Molly | A Father’s Vision for Independence 💙

This week, Dr. Molly sits down with Daymark Living founder John Poston for a conversation that is both personal and at the very heart of why Daymark exists.

As Michael’s dad, John began asking a simple but important question years ago:

“If I was Michael, what would I want?”

The answer wasn’t necessarily to live with Dad forever. It was the opportunity to build a life of his own — much like his brother and sister.

Today, Michael has friends, a girlfriend, a job, growing independence and a community he considers home. As John puts it, “He has his friends and his life is here.”

John and Dr. Molly talk about the confidence that can come with independence, the life skills Michael has developed since moving away from home, and the family, friends and supporters who helped turn an idea into Daymark Living.

And when John looks at Michael today?

“It’s more than I dreamed of.”

Watch this week's Mondays with Molly for the story behind Daymark — from the perspective of the dad who helped imagine it.

⚾️ Batter Up! Daymark Hits a Home Run! 💙

Opening Day for the Miracle League of Ellis County was a GRAND SLAM, and our Daymark crew came ready to play, cheer, and have a ball! ⚾️🎉

From big swings and base hits to high-fives and plenty of smiles, it was a day filled with teamwork, friendship, and FUN!

And let's hear it for Dancing Queen Hannah, who came out to celebrate Opening Day and brought ALL the moves! 💃⚾️ Fun fact: Hannah is also an usher for the Texas Rangers! Looks like baseball and bringing the energy are two of her specialties!

At Daymark Living, we love opportunities for our residents to get involved in the community, build friendships, and enjoy experiences that bring people together. Days like this remind us that everyone deserves a chance to step up to the plate and shine! 💙

⚾️ Now we want to know… are you bringing the baseball skills or the dance moves? Tell us in the comments!

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month!

At Daymark Living, we have the privilege of seeing every day what’s possible when adults with Down syndrome and other intellectual and developmental disabilities are given opportunities to grow, learn, work, build friendships and become more independent.

This month, we’re celebrating the individuals who make our community brighter — their personalities, talents, goals, accomplishments and all the things that make them uniquely them.

Here’s to creating communities where every adult has the opportunity to build a meaningful life and a future they’re excited about. 💙

When should families start planning for independent living for an adult with intellectual disabilities?

The answer is often earlier than you might think. 💙

Planning for independence doesn’t have to begin when a move is right around the corner. Starting early gives your loved one time to build daily living skills, practice routines, grow in confidence and discover what kind of support helps them thrive.

In this month’s Daymark Living blog, we’re sharing what families can consider as they begin planning for life after high school and future independent living—including why readiness is about much more than age.

Whether independent living is a goal for next year or several years from now, there are meaningful steps you can start taking today.

Some stories are worth sharing again. 💙

This week on Mondays with Molly, we’re revisiting a special conversation with Michael Poston — someone Dr. Molly has known since he was just three years old and whose story is woven into the heart of Daymark Living.

Michael’s dad founded Daymark with a vision for his son’s future: a place where Michael — and other adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities — could build independence, learn everyday life skills, find meaningful work and create a life of their own.

Today, Michael is doing just that. From strengthening his financial and independent living skills at Daymark to working in the community at Bahama Buck’s and Fresh Coffee Shop, he continues to grow in confidence and responsibility.

Michael’s story is a wonderful reminder that independence doesn’t happen all at once. It grows through opportunity, encouragement, practice and people who believe in what’s possible.

If you missed this episode the first time around — or just want to watch it again — we think it’s worth another look. 💙

At Daymark Living in Waxahachie, Texas, adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities have opportunities to build independence, practice everyday life skills, make meaningful friendships and stay connected to the community. Sometimes that looks like learning something new... and sometimes it just looks like having a really good time together. 😊

Here’s a little peek at September at Daymark. We can’t wait to see what October brings!

This week’s Mondays with Molly is all about friendship, independence and one very special Daymark resident. 💙
Meet Chris! He’s been part of the Daymark Living community for several years, and as Molly puts it, he has a way of making her heart happy every time she sees him.
Chris and Molly chat about life at Daymark, his family, his new blue hearing aids, the essentials he keeps in his f***y pack and a few of the health needs he manages with plenty of confidence.
They also touch on something important: adults with Down syndrome can experience additional health conditions, including hearing loss, alopecia and challenges with blood sugar. For Chris, those things are simply part of his story, not the whole story.
Mostly, this episode is about two buddies catching up... and Chris reminding us why Mondays with Molly is one of our favorite ways to start the week. 💙
