A Rare Level of Expertise. A Different Approach to Lung Health.
At Alpha Care Wellness Center, we are exceptionally proud to recognize Dr. Olusegun Oseni, MD, FCCP, DABSM, for his remarkable expertise and commitment to advancing functional and integrative pulmonary medicine.

As a board-certified pulmonologist and sleep medicine specialist with specialized training and certification in the Shoemaker Protocol for Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS), Dr. Oseni brings together disciplines that are rarely combined in conventional medical practice.

What makes his approach so distinctive?

For patients experiencing chronic respiratory symptoms, unexplained inflammation, mold-related illness, or complex environmental health conditions, traditional evaluations may not always reveal the complete picture.

Dr. Oseni takes a comprehensive approach, combining his extensive background in pulmonary and sleep medicine with functional and integrative strategies to investigate potential underlying contributors to illness.

His areas of expertise include:

• Mold-Related Illness & CIRS: Evaluating and managing complex inflammatory conditions associated with exposure to water-damaged environments, utilizing principles of the Shoemaker Protocol.
• Functional & Integrative Pulmonology: Looking beyond isolated respiratory symptoms to consider how inflammation, environmental exposures, immune function, and overall health may interact.
• Pulmonary Medicine: Bringing specialized expertise in the diagnosis and management of respiratory diseases and chronic lung conditions.
• Sleep Medicine: Evaluating sleep-disordered breathing and other sleep-related conditions that can significantly affect long-term health and quality of life.
• Complex Chronic Illness: Applying a comprehensive, individualized approach to patients whose symptoms may involve multiple interconnected systems.

Why does this matter?

Because the lungs do not function in isolation. Respiratory health is closely connected to sleep, immune function, environmental exposures, and the body's broader inflammatory responses.

Dr. Oseni's multidisciplinary expertise allows him to approach these connections with the clinical perspective of a pulmonary specialist and the investigative framework of functional and integrative medicine.

We are honored to have a physician of Dr. Oseni's caliber serving our patients at Alpha Care Wellness Center.

His dedication to clinical excellence, continued education, and individualized patient care reflects our commitment to helping patients pursue better health through a deeper understanding of their unique needs.

Your health deserves expertise that looks beyond the obvious.

We pay attention to what we eat. We think about exercise, hydration, sleep, and supplements.

But how often do we think about what we breathe every day?

The environments where we live, work, and sleep can play an important role in respiratory and overall health. Smoke, allergens, dust, outdoor air pollution, workplace irritants, and other environmental exposures can affect the airways and may contribute to respiratory symptoms in some people.

And because we spend so much of our lives indoors, indoor air quality matters, too.

This Healthy Lung Month, take a closer look at your everyday environment. Have you noticed persistent coughing, congestion, wheezing, shortness of breath, or symptoms that seem better when you're away from a particular building or environment? Those patterns can be useful information to share with your healthcare provider.

At Alpha Care Wellness Center, our functional and integrative approach recognizes that health isn't influenced only by what happens inside the body. Your lifestyle, surroundings, exposures, sleep, nutrition, and individual health history can all be important pieces of the bigger picture.

Healthy living isn't only about what you put into your body. Pay attention to the environment around you and the air you breathe every day.

Your health doesn’t exist in separate boxes, and neither should the conversations you have about it.

Hormonal health, metabolism, nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress, body composition, family history, genetics, and lifestyle can all be important pieces of your overall health picture.

And during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, it’s a good reminder that understanding your individual risk involves looking beyond any single symptom, lab value, or test.

Breast cancer risk is complex. Some factors—such as age, genetics, and family history—are outside of our control. Others may be influenced by lifestyle and overall health. That’s why knowing your personal risk factors and keeping up with recommended breast cancer screening remain so important.

At Alpha Care Wellness Center, we believe in asking deeper questions and looking at the whole person – not simply isolated numbers.

How are you sleeping? How is your metabolic health? Are you staying physically active? Are you keeping up with preventive screenings? Have you discussed your family history and individual risk factors with your healthcare provider?

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, look at the bigger picture. Know your risks. Stay current with your screenings. Ask questions. And make your long-term health a priority – not just in October, but all year long.

Strong bones. Healthy joints. Better movement. Greater independence.

Bone and joint health is about much more than avoiding aches and pains – it plays an important role in how well we move, function, and maintain our quality of life as we age.

And the health of your bones and joints doesn’t exist in isolation.

Hormonal changes. Chronic inflammation. Nutrient deficiencies. Muscle loss. Metabolic health. Physical activity. Sleep and recovery. These can all influence the way your body feels and functions over time.

For women especially, declining estrogen during perimenopause and menopause can accelerate bone loss, making it increasingly important to think proactively about bone health, not only after a problem is discovered.

At Alpha Care Wellness Center, we believe healthy aging should focus on preserving strength, mobility, resilience, and independence.

During Bone and Joint Health Action Week, consider asking yourself:
Are you getting the nutrients needed to support healthy bones?
Are you maintaining muscle through resistance and weight-bearing activity?
Could inflammation or hormonal changes be contributing to how you feel?
When was the last time you discussed your bone health and individual risk factors?

You don’t have to wait until pain, limited mobility, or bone loss becomes significant to start paying attention.

Build strength now. Protect your mobility. Invest in the way you want to age.

Arise, shine; for thy light is come. Isaiah 60:1
I took this photo, just as the sun came up over the Hills.
I had spent three days at the Women’s Health Summit, learning and collaborating with lifelong friends and some of the brightest minds in women’s health and longevity. Rooms like that keep you sharp. They also keep you humble.
Thirteen years ago, I sat in my first women’s health symposium , eager to learn everything I could. I never stopped. I am still a student, still a researcher, and still asking better questions every year.
Caring for women has never been just a profession for me. It is my ministry. The women who trust me with their care deserve the very best of what science knows today, and that is what I’m bringing home.
So many women believe their best season is behind them. I’ve spent my life proving otherwise.
Midlife isn’t a sunset. It’s a sunrise.
I’ll share some of what I learned with you this week.
Rest well today. 🤍
Blessings,
Dr. Catherine

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and awareness is about more than wearing pink. It’s about understanding your individual risk, staying current with recommended screenings, knowing what is normal for your body, and making your overall health a priority.

Your health story is uniquely yours. Family history, age, genetics, hormonal and reproductive factors, alcohol use, physical activity, body weight, and other factors can all play a role in breast cancer risk.

That’s why being proactive matters.

Know your family history. Keep up with recommended mammograms and clinical care. Pay attention to changes in your breasts and body. Prioritize movement, nourishing foods, restorative sleep, and other habits that support your overall health.

And most importantly, don’t wait until something feels wrong to start paying attention.

At Alpha Care Wellness Center, we believe proactive healthcare begins with looking at the whole person and empowering patients to become active participants in their long-term wellness.

This October, let Breast Cancer Awareness Month be more than a reminder. Let it be your reason to schedule the screening, ask the questions, learn your risks, and prioritize your health.

Awareness matters. Screening matters. And taking an active role in your health matters every day of the year.

09/30/2026

September is PCOS Awareness Month, and one of the most important conversations we can have about polycystic o***y syndrome is that there is no single “look” for PCOS.

For one woman, the first clue may be irregular, unpredictable, or absent periods. For another, it may be persistent acne, unwanted facial or body hair, thinning hair, difficulty managing weight, fertility challenges, or changes in blood sugar and insulin regulation. Some women experience several of these symptoms, while others may have only a few.

And sometimes, the symptoms that finally bring a woman into the office don't initially seem connected at all.

PCOS is more than a reproductive health condition. It can involve an interconnected picture of hormonal, ovulatory, and metabolic health, which is why understanding the pattern may require looking beyond a single symptom or laboratory value.

Depending on the individual, a comprehensive evaluation may consider menstrual and ovulatory patterns, androgen levels, glucose and insulin regulation, cholesterol and other metabolic markers, thyroid function, fertility goals, family history, and additional factors based on symptoms and medical history.

And despite the name, you do not have to have ovarian cysts to have PCOS. Diagnosis is based on specific clinical criteria and requires consideration of other possible causes of similar symptoms.

That's also why treating each concern in isolation may not always address the larger picture.

Acne, irregular cycles, difficulty with weight, unwanted hair growth, and fertility concerns may appear to be separate issues, but in some women, they may be different pieces of the same underlying pattern.

At Alpha Care Wellness Center, we believe women's health deserves more than simply asking whether an individual result falls inside a reference range. We look at the history, symptoms, laboratory data, metabolic health, lifestyle, and the relationships between them to help guide an individualized approach.

This PCOS Awareness Month, consider asking a different question:
“What is driving the pattern underneath my symptoms?”

This is not a postcard sunrise. It is my sky this morning, within 30 minutes of waking, clouds and all.

And it still did its job.

Your brain has a master clock called the suprachiasmatic nucleus, and it is waiting for one signal every morning: bright outdoor light entering your eyes. That signal times your cortisol awakening response, which naturally peaks about 30 to 45 minutes after you wake. It also starts the countdown to your melatonin release roughly 14 to 16 hours later.

Miss the signal, and the whole day drifts. Energy lags in the morning, cortisol runs late into the evening, and sleep gets harder to find.

Clouds do not cancel it. Even an overcast sky like this one delivers several times more light than a well-lit kitchen. The window glass filters out much of what your clock needs, so step outside.

After 2 decades in practice, this is one of the first habits I ask about. Hot flashes, 3 a.m. waking, and afternoon crashes often soften when the morning signal is restored.

My simple practice:
☀️ Outside within 30 minutes of waking
☀️ 10 minutes on a clear day, 20 to 30 when it is cloudy
☀️ No sunglasses, and never look directly at the sun
☀️ Bring a glass of warm or lukewarm water with lemon

Grace, not perfection. Some mornings look like this one. Show up anyway.

Save this for tomorrow morning, and tell me in the DMs what your sky looked like.

Ready to reset your rhythm with support? Call 817-550-6332.

Blessings,
Dr. Catherine
