Getting people out of pain is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do. But every once in a while, a patient reminds us that what we do goes so much deeper than just relieving pain.

Today, a patient sat down and genuinely thanked us for helping him find relief from pain he had been living with for so long.

What really hit home was when he opened up about his past struggles with addiction. He admitted that he thought pain medication was going to be his only option and the thought of going down that road again terrified him.

Sometimes we forget that people walk through our doors carrying a lot more than just physical pain. Sometimes they’re carrying fear, frustration and battles we know absolutely nothing about.

And sometimes, helping someone feel better means more than we could ever imagine.

Moments like this are exactly why we do what we do

Let’s clear something up: spinal decompression is not someone pulling on your ankles until your back pops. 😂

It’s a gentle, controlled treatment performed on a specialized table that’s designed to stretch and unload the spine. It may be appropriate for certain neck, back or disc-related complaint but it isn’t for everyone and it isn’t a magic fix.

That’s why we evaluate each patient first and recommend care based on what we actually find.

The honest answer is… not always.

We start by listening to what’s going on, reviewing your health history and completing an exam. If X-rays are appropriate and would help us better understand the problem, we can take digital images right here in the office. If they aren’t needed, we’re not taking them just for the sake of taking them.

The goal is simple… get the information we need to recommend the right next step for you.
