Your body. Your rights.

Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) is more than a healthcare principle - it's a human right recognized in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP). Every person has the right to make informed decisions about their own body, free from pressure, coercion or discrimination.

For many First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples, these rights have not always been respected. Understanding your rights is an important step toward advancing culturally safe, equitable healthcare.

Swipe through to learn what FPIC means, why it matters and where to find support if your rights have been violated.

Stay tuned for the continuation of this series on Free, Prior, and Informed Consent, where we discuss “How to Know When Support is Needed”
