Because when someone is constantly trying to numb themselves, there is usually something underneath the behavior that has never been healed.
And this does not apply only to alcohol.
Some people drink.
Some people overwork.
Some people chase unavailable people.
Some people become addicted to chaos, fantasy, s*x, validation, or being needed.
Different coping mechanisms.
Same pain underneath.
That is why healing is not just about stopping the behavior.
It is also about asking:
What am I carrying that feels so heavy I keep needing to escape myself?
Sometimes the wound is childhood trauma.
Sometimes it is abandonment.
Sometimes it is neglect.
Sometimes it is the ache of never feeling safe, loved, or enough.
Healing begins when we stop asking,
โWhat is wrong with me?โ
and start asking,
โWhat happened to me?โ
๐ If this spoke to you, my books may help you go deeper.
I Didnโt Choose to Be Born is for those healing childhood wounds, emotional neglect, and the pain of growing up unseen.
Chasing Love That Hurts is for those trying to understand limerence, emotional obsession, and why painful love can feel so hard to let go of.
Both are at the link in my bio.
