What a beautiful fall day at Gaver Farm! 🎃🍂

Target Community participants enjoyed a day filled with pumpkin picking, a hayride, games, and plenty of fall fun!

And can we talk about THAT SLIDE?! 😂 It was definitely one of the biggest attractions of the day! Judging by the smiles and excitement, a few people might have been ready to go right back up for another ride!

From exploring the farm to finding the perfect pumpkin, the day was full of laughter, friendship, and opportunities to enjoy everything the season has to offer.

At Target Community, experiences like these are an important part of helping adults with disabilities live full, productive lives, stay connected, and enjoy their community.

A big thank-you to Gaver Farm for a wonderful fall outing! 🍁❤️

A special thank you to Westminster Wire for helping us share this exciting chapter in Target Community's story!

Our recent groundbreaking represents more than the beginning of construction. It represents a lifelong commitment to four incredible people who will soon have a new place to call home.

We're grateful to Westminster Wire for taking the time to share this important milestone with our community. Local journalism plays an important role in connecting people, celebrating progress, and highlighting the work happening right here in Carroll County.

Thank you for helping us tell this story and for giving our community an opportunity to see what this new home will mean for the people we support.

Yesterday, we celebrated an exciting milestone for Target Community as we officially broke ground on our newest residential home in Westminster, Maryland!

But this project is about much more than building a house.

It's about Donald, Sally, and Susan.

All three have been part of the Target Community family for many years. Donald, in fact, was among our earliest participants and has received services for more than 40 years!

As the people we support grow older, their needs change. And we believe the homes they live in should be able to change with them.

That's why we're building a new residence specifically designed to support Donald, Sally, and Susan as they age. A place where they can maintain their independence, receive the support they need, and remain for the rest of their lives.

This is what continuity of care looks like. A commitment that doesn't end when someone gets older.

In this video, our President and CEO, Dr. Matthew Ramsey, explains why this project is so important and what it means for the future of Target Community.

Projects like this require a significant investment, but their impact can last a lifetime. We're grateful for the community that continues to make our mission possible.

💚 Because everyone deserves a place to call home.

🏠 Today, the future felt real.

Target Community officially broke ground on a new home designed to support participants as they grow older and their needs change.

The three people pictured here will be its first residents. They also had the honor of turning the first shovels of soil—helping begin the next chapter of their own lives.

This home will provide a safe, accessible and welcoming place where residents can remain connected to the people, routines and community they know. It will help them continue living full, productive lives with the right support around them.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this important milestone.

Now, the work begins.

Through our 2026 Annual Appeal, you can help turn this house into a home—with comfortable furnishings, personal spaces and places to gather, relax and connect.

Help us build what comes next.

Michael Adekunle never expected to build a career supporting adults with disabilities. What began as an unexpected opportunity became work that changed how he sees people, employment, and the strength of an inclusive community.

In this episode, Michael joins Adam Stultz to discuss his journey to becoming Target Community’s Outreach Manager in Montgomery County. They explore how Target connects participants with meaningful employment, how job coaches support employees and businesses, and why finding the right person for the right opportunity benefits everyone.

Michael also offers an honest reflection:

He once saw the disability before he saw the person. This work taught him to look deeper—and recognize the skills, perspectives, and possibilities he had previously overlooked.

It is a candid, thoughtful, and often funny conversation about meaningful work, personal growth, and helping adults with disabilities live full, productive lives.

☕🍪 A little coffee, a few cookies, and a whole lot of opportunity! 💚

There's more to running a coffee shop than pouring a great cup of coffee, and our participants got a chance to experience that firsthand!

During a hands-on Coffee Shop Skill Development Training, participants worked alongside members of Target Community's Business Advisory Council to practice cookie packaging, kitchen safety, keeping a workspace clean, and even job interviews.

Each station offered something valuable: new skills, greater confidence, and real-world experience that can help open doors to meaningful employment.

A huge thank you to our Business Advisory Council members for sharing their time, experience, and encouragement. Your involvement helps turn learning into opportunity!

Because at Target Community, we're not just helping people prepare for a job. We're helping them build confidence, independence, and a future filled with possibilities. 💚

Last Friday evening, we didn’t just celebrate Target Community’s birthday. We celebrated the people who make this community so extraordinary.

The dance floor was full. The room was filled with laughter. Everywhere you looked, there were friends, families, participants, staff, and supporters enjoying an evening built around joy, love, community, and belonging.

And let’s make one thing perfectly clear: DJ MadMax knows how to throw one incredible party. He kept the music going, the energy high, and the dance floor packed all night.
