Different journeys call for different kinds of support.

Breast cancer can affect much more than physical health. It can change everyday routines, independence, emotional well-being, and the support a person needs at home.

And those needs can change throughout treatment and recovery.

At APEX Health Services, our continuum of care brings together services that help support patients and families in different ways:

Her cancer journey. Her choices. Her goals.

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we're revisiting a real APEX patient story that reminds us why individualized care matters.

Mrs. N was receiving treatment for breast cancer while living independently at home.

But uncontrolled pain, anxiety, and shortness of breath were making life difficult. She had experienced two hospitalizations in six months.

She wanted to continue her cancer treatment, remain at home, and make her own healthcare decisions.

APEX Palliative Care helped her work toward those goals by providing additional support for symptom management, emotional well-being, and care coordination.

After nearly 12 months of Palliative Care services, she had remained at home without additional hospitalizations during that period, continued her cancer treatment, and no longer needed Palliative Care services.

Her story reminds us that Palliative Care isn't only for the end of life. It can provide valuable support alongside treatment for serious illness.
