What does Freedom mean to you on a personal level?

Yesterday I went to Hutchinson Kansas for my kids Xolair injections which are every two weeks. Well my kids love it when their dad can come with us. They get to spend more time with him on a semi road trip especially since they missed him from working the last three nights. Oh! And they know that daddy will feed them when we get back to Wichita. Lol. Now typically I will go eat with them and consider that a cheat day. Lord knows the truth, how I will smell the food and eventually give into the temptation to buy it anyway so “I might as well join them”. This is my mindset.

However, this time I did something different. I could feel the familiar pull of temptation, but instead of giving in I decided to sit with my emotions– acknowledging my desire to indulge, yet recognizing the deeper work I was doing on myself. In that moment, I saw my emotions as part of the garden within me.

Temptation was like a w**d, ready to overrun the healthy choices I had been planting. But I had a choice: let the w**d grow, or tend to my garden with care. By choosing not to eat, I wasn’t depriving myself–I was nurturing my growth, pulling out the w**ds of unhealthy habits before they could take root again.

Sitting with my emotions, instead of numbing them with food, was an act of self-care, a reminder that I have the power to cultivate the life I want. My garden, my inner space, became a little healthier yesterday, because I chose to tend to it.

This moment was just one step in my journey, but it’s one that has made a lasting impact. Learning to tend to the emotions within me, rather than being overtaken by them, has transformed not only how I approach my health but how I live my life.

Mental Pictures Influence Your reality.

I grew as a child who created this mental picture/self image (subconsciously, maybe a little conscious of this) of low self worth. This stemmed from my upbringing and being raised by my grandparents. I felt like I was not good enough, and due to this picture I walked around in a way that had me behave and act as such: Quiet, Reserved, Had to be perfect, and all the things in order to be accepted. (Which nothing is wrong with these characteristics at all- just sharing my story and reasonings for acting in this way.) As a grown woman who is on her healing journey still deals with this on some level, however evolving consists of doing things differently which directly starts with how you think. Now, I am testing and questioning the validity of these mental pictures I had before, gaining a new perspective, meaning, and understanding along with visualizing myself differently in order to move without forced change through discipline and of my willpower. To automatically shift because my picture has shifted!

Shift your Mental Picture as well:

Mental Pictures influence your reality!
These images are stored in your subconscious mind and guide your behavior. By changing these mental pictures, you can change your reality.

1.Awareness- what does your Mental Picture look like? If you are not sure, Look at your behaviors and actions. Look at successes, failures, traumas, and experiences. How do you identify yourself? Is your Mental Picture in alignment of where you want to be? Do your behaviors and actions match up and are deemed successful in your eyes. Does your Mental Picture need adjusting? Each decision that you have made has led you up to this point. Do you want to continue on this path or change the course of your life?
2. Make a Decision- On a scale from 0-10, determine where you are in changing your life. With 10, being confident that you are willing to do whatever it takes. With 0, being that you are not ready at all because you are happy with your current lifestyle.
3. Practice- Your Mental Picture (self Image) can not be fixed. However it can be changed through conscious effort and practice using Visualization Techniques: Visualizing a new self image and acting as if it is already true. Visualize yourself in your past moments where you were successful in doing something. Don’t identify yourself with the failures and mistakes you've made.. Look at it as factual and descriptive . Ex. “I failed my math test” vs “ I am a failure” See the difference between the two.
