Interested in having a little more support during pregnancy, birth, or postpartum?

Students are currently making their way through Catalyst Doula Training, and part of becoming a doula is gaining real-world experience supporting people through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

If you’re pregnant, preparing for birth, or postpartum and would be interested in working with a student doula, you can fill out our interest form and tell us about yourself and the kind of support you’re looking for.

Doulas provide non-medical support including education, birth preparation, emotional support, comfort measures during labor, advocacy support, and postpartum support. Student doulas do not provide prenatal or medical care, diagnose conditions, or deliver babies.

Filling out the form does not automatically match you with a doula. It creates an opportunity for you and a Catalyst student to connect, talk, and decide whether you’re a good fit for one another.

Student doula support is not automatically free. Some students may offer complimentary support, while others may arrange an agreed-upon fee directly with you.

Interested? Tell us what kind of support you’re looking for:

Matrescence Center community — we’ll be closed Friday, 1/23 due to the incoming winter storm and anticipated snow.

We’re choosing safety first and don’t want anyone on the roads if conditions get bad. Please stay warm, take care of yourself, and check on your people. 🤍

We’ll share an update as soon as we know whether we’ll be closed on Monday too.

Did you know?
We have two sound-proof, immersive self-care rooms at the Matrescence Center—thoughtfully designed for rest, regulation, and reset.
Both rooms are equipped with comfy seating, audio equipment, weighted and warming blankets, sensory tools, and a calming water feature wall. You can choose a guided meditation, breathwork, soundscape, or any music that feels right to you using the built-in kiosk with access to millions of tracks.
If you’re pregnant, or parenting a baby or toddler, this space is especially for you.
During January and February, the rooms are set up with our signature cold-weather self-care experience, A Warm Winter’s Glow. Pour yourself a cup of chamomile tea from our hot tea bar, enjoy a DIY warm cinnamon sugar hand scrub, wrap up in a weighted blanket (optional), and settle into an intention-setting meditation during your private session.
One room is available for walk-ins during open lounge hours, and one is available by reservation. Sessions are offered for up to an hour at a time. We provide the space and the supplies—just bring yourself, move slowly, and take the time you need to unwind.
Rest is not a luxury. It’s part of care.

🌟 We’re excited to share that Kansas Birth Justice Society, the organization behind the Matrescence Center, has been recognized by the Wichita Business Journal as a *2025 Diversity & Inclusion Awards Honoree! 🌟

This recognition shines a light on what birth justice means for diversity and equity: creating spaces where Black, Brown, Indigenous, immigrant, LGBTQ+, and low-income families are centered, affirmed, and supported in their reproductive journeys.

At the Matrescence Center, a project of KBJS, we bring this vision to life through meditation, workshops, lactation support, and intentional space for families to connect and heal. Here, justice looks like joy, rest, and community care — because every family deserves not only survival, but the chance to thrive.

We celebrate this honor alongside the families, facilitators, volunteers, and staff who make the Matrescence Center a home for connection, healing, and belonging. 💛
