WMREF joined our partners at TKAAM - The Kansas African American Museum for Senior Wednesday to learn the history of Nicodemus, Kansas, the only remaining western town established by African Americans during the Reconstruction period following the Civil War. Historian Angela Bates shared powerful stories about the town's past and plans for the future.

WMREF staff also shared information regarding Clearway Testing with attendees.

WMREF and TKAAM are teaming up for something special this holiday season! Stay tuned for what's coming!

If you couldn't attend the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) Open House this weekend about the contaminated groundwater cleanup at 29th and Grove, you can still stay informed.

Visit the official KDHE website for the latest progress reports and information on the 29th and Grove site: www.kdhe.ks.gov/1938. Also, visit Clearway Testing for free health testing locations and community testing events.

During the KWCH segment, our Executive Director highlighted the vital importance of community health and encouraged impacted residents to get tested.

Decades after a railroad spill near the 29th and Grove neighborhood in Wichita, KDHE is moving forward with a plan to clean up groundwater contaminated with a cancerous chemical.

At an open house on Saturday, KDHE shared the plan with community members.
