🍂 Don’t Fall Behind on Colon Cancer Screening

45 or older? It may be time to add colon cancer screening to your to-do list. ✅

For adults at average risk, colorectal cancer screening is recommended beginning at age 45, even if you feel healthy and have no symptoms.

A colonoscopy can find precancerous polyps so they can be removed before they have the chance to develop into cancer. It can also help detect colorectal cancer at an earlier stage.

✨ If you’re 45+ and haven’t been screened, make this fall the season you schedule it.

✨ Your liver works hard every day, often without you even thinking about it. It plays a key role in digestion and metabolism, processes nutrients, and filters substances from your blood.

The tricky part? ➡️ Some liver conditions may not cause noticeable symptoms early on. That’s why understanding your risk factors, keeping up with routine health care, and talking with your provider about any concerns can be important.

If you have questions about your liver health or have been referred for further evaluation, the team at Kansas Gastroenterology is here to help.

🍁 As the temperatures cool and routines shift, it’s a good time to check in on the everyday habits that support your digestive health.

Fall brings plenty of gut-friendly options to the table. Apples, pears, sweet potatoes, squash, oats, and other fiber-rich seasonal foods can help support regular digestion. Pair them with plenty of water, regular movement, and consistent meals to help keep your digestive system on track. 🙂

And while a change in routine can sometimes affect digestion, persistent bloating, constipation, abdominal discomfort, or changes in bowel habits shouldn’t simply become your new normal.

🍂 Enjoy the season, take care of your gut, and talk with your healthcare provider if something doesn’t feel right.

MYTH: No symptoms = no need for colorectal cancer screening.

✨Actually, that’s exactly why screening matters.

Colorectal cancer and precancerous polyps can develop without causing noticeable symptoms. A colonoscopy can find and remove certain polyps before they have the chance to become cancerous, and it can help detect colorectal cancer at an earlier stage.

✨For most adults at average risk, colorectal cancer screening should begin at age 45. If you have a family history of colorectal cancer or certain other risk factors, your healthcare provider may recommend starting earlier.

Feeling healthy is a good thing.🙂 Staying current on preventive screenings can help keep it that way.

Are you 45 or older and due for your screening? Don’t wait for symptoms. Contact Kansas Gastroenterology to schedule your colonoscopy.

Going with your gut starts with knowing what’s normal for you. 🙂

For National Go With Your Gut Day, we’re reminding you to pay attention to what your digestive system is telling you.

✨Everyone’s “normal” can look a little different. What matters is recognizing when something changes. A noticeable difference in your bowel habits, stool appearance, frequency, urgency, bloating, or abdominal discomfort can sometimes be your body’s way of telling you something needs attention.

One unusual day usually isn’t cause for concern. But changes that persist, keep coming back, or interfere with your daily life are worth discussing with your healthcare provider.

💫Trust your gut. And more importantly, know your gut.

Your heartburn may be trying to tell you something. 🔥

Occasional heartburn after a big meal or certain foods is common. But if you’re reaching for antacids several times a week, waking up with reflux, experiencing frequent regurgitation, or noticing that heartburn keeps coming back, it may be time to look a little deeper.

👉 Frequent acid reflux can be a sign of GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), a condition that, if left untreated, can cause ongoing irritation of the esophagus.

Antacids may help with temporary relief, but they don’t always address the reason your symptoms keep returning.

✨If heartburn has become part of your normal routine, talk with your healthcare provider. You don’t have to keep managing it one antacid at a time.
