PUBLIC HEALTH PROJECT! This semester Keep Moving Vermont/Rock Steady Boxing Williston is participating in a semester-long research project with the Larner College of Medicine at UVM. A team of eight second-year medical students is working with us to assess the impact, benefits of and barriers to participation in high impact exercise programs such as ours. From a community/public health perspective.

This has also included students joining us for boxing sessions! Stay tuned for updates!!

* Public Health Projects, a required course in the Vermont Integrated Curriculum at the Larner College of Medicine, teaches medical students to apply the principles and science of public health while working to improve the health of the community. Each year, with help from longstanding college partner United Way of Northwest Vermont, 16 groups of second-year medical students are matched to community projects identified by local community agencies. Using practical research methods, students work together with faculty and community agency mentors to find creative ways to translate science into practice.

Coach Maggie was on hand at Shelburne Vineyard to support (endure?) Rock Steady Boxer Mick's performance of a song he wrote about the PD Journey, "sung" to the tune of "Staying Alive." It was during a break in an actual show by Ali T and Jesse Taylor at Shelburne Vineyard that also raised funds for RSB/W.
