"Dig here, I have been here in another life," she told the workers while pointing toward a patch of barren sand.
The archaeologists standing around her were doubtful. To them, the desert surrounding the ancient Temple of Seti I in Abydos was nothing more than dry, empty earth.
Yet, she spoke with complete confidence.
The woman speaking was Dorothy Eady, known across Egypt as Omm Sety.
Born in London in 1904, she was a British-born researcher who spent her adult life working for the Egyptian Department of Antiquities.
To the academic world, she was a highly respected draftswoman and Egyptologist whose deep knowledge of ancient sites amazed experts. But to those who knew her story, she was a woman who lived two lives.
When the workmen started digging where she pointed, what they uncovered shocked the scientific world.
Deep beneath the desert sand, they found the preserved roots of ancient vines and the original water channels of a hidden garden.
This discovery was unbelievable because it matched the exact garden Dorothy had described as a toddler in London, decades before she ever visited Egypt.
To understand how she knew this, we have to go back to where her story began in 1907.
Three-year-old Dorothy fell down a long flight of stairs at her home in London.
The family doctor rushed over, checked her vitals, and declared her dead.
Yet, just one hour later, the little girl was sitting upright on her bed, laughing and playing.
After that day, Dorothy changed completely.
She cried constantly for her "real" home, describing a temple with huge stone columns and green gardens.
Her parents had no answers until they took her to the British Museum.
In the Egyptian section, Dorothy ran to the statues, hugged them, and kissed their feet.
"Leave me here with my people!" she shouted to her shocked parents.
When she saw a picture of the Temple of Seti I at Abydos, she pointed and cried out, "There is my home! But where are the trees? Where are the gardens?"
As she grew up, her interest only became stronger.
She learned to read ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics very quickly, surprising expert scholars.
She believed that in a past life, her name was Bentreshyt and that she had served as a young priestess in that very temple.
In 1933, as a young woman, she moved to Egypt to start a new life.
She married an Egyptian man and had a son named Sety.
Because of this, people called her "Omm Sety," which means "Mother of Sety."
Later, she moved to a small village right next to the ruins of Abydos to work directly at the ancient site.
One night, a skeptical inspector wanted to test her claims.
He took her into the temple in complete darkness and asked her to find specific wall paintings that had never been published or photographed.
Walking through the pitch-black rooms, she pointed straight to the exact spots.
"I remember these walls," she whispered calmly in the dark.
She lived the rest of her life in a simple mud-brick house near the temple.
"I have returned to where I belong," she often said.
She passed away in 1981, leaving behind discoveries that still amaze archaeologists today.
Omm Sety showed us that life might be part of a much longer journey.
She showed us that death is not the end of consciousness, but merely a veil between dimensions.
