💜 MIDLIFE PAIN IS NOT SOMETHING WOMEN SHOULD SIMPLY LEARN TO LIVE WITH.

October 18 marks World Menopause Day, an opportunity to bring greater attention to the health challenges women experience during perimenopause, menopause, and beyond.

This year's theme, “Chronic Pain at Midlife: From Recognition to Evidence-Based Care,” highlights an important issue in women's healthcare: persistent pain deserves attention, investigation, and individualized treatment.

For many women, midlife can bring changes in hormonal health alongside conditions such as endometriosis, adenomyosis, pelvic floor dysfunction, and other causes of chronic pelvic pain.

But here's an important distinction:

Not every symptom is caused by menopause, and not every case of pelvic pain requires surgery.

At the American Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery (AIMIS), we recognize the importance of understanding the full clinical picture.

🩺 For healthcare providers, this means:

🔹 Listening carefully when patients describe persistent or changing symptoms.

🔹 Recognizing that chronic pelvic pain may have multiple contributing factors.

🔹 Applying current evidence to guide diagnosis and treatment.

🔹 Considering minimally invasive surgical options when clinically appropriate.

🔹 Collaborating across specialties to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care.

The goal isn't simply to manage symptoms. It's to understand their causes and help women achieve a better quality of life.

This World Menopause Day, let's continue advancing the conversation around midlife health, chronic pain, and the importance of evidence-based care.

Because women deserve to be heard, understood, and treated with the expertise their health requires.

Could the next evolution in robotic surgery be smaller?

The FDA has cleared Virtual Incision’s MIRA Surgical System for benign hysterectomy procedures, expanding the miniaturized robotic platform into gynecologic surgery in the United States.

Unlike traditional robotic platforms, MIRA is designed as a small, portable robotic system that can be brought into the operating room and used through a single incision. According to Virtual Incision, the system weighs approximately two pounds and is designed to make robotic-assisted surgery more accessible without requiring a dedicated robotic operating room.

The new indication represents another example of how technology continues to reshape the possibilities of minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.

For AIMIS, innovation like this also reinforces an important point: new technology is only one part of progress. Physician education, appropriate training, clinical judgment, and patient selection remain essential as surgical options evolve.
The tools may be getting smaller.

The possibilities for minimally invasive surgery continue to grow.

🎀 WOMEN'S HEALTHCARE DOESN'T STOP AT ONE SPECIALTY.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a reminder that advancing women's healthcare requires awareness, education, early detection, and collaboration across medical specialties.

Breast cancer affects millions of women worldwide, but timely screening, advances in treatment, and coordinated care continue to make a meaningful difference.

At the **American Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery (AIMIS)**, our commitment to women's healthcare extends beyond the operating room.

We believe that better outcomes begin with informed patients, knowledgeable physicians, and a healthcare community that works together.

🩷 This month, we encourage healthcare professionals to:

🔹 Promote evidence-based breast cancer screening and risk assessment.

🔹 Educate patients about their individual risk factors and the importance of discussing breast changes.

🔹 Encourage open conversations about preventive care and early detection.

🔹 Support multidisciplinary collaboration to ensure patients receive comprehensive, individualized care.

Awareness starts conversations. Education empowers decisions. Collaboration advances care.

Together, we can continue building a future where women's health is a priority at every stage of life.
