When you’re balancing work, family, and your own responsibilities, caring for an aging loved one can feel overwhelming, especially when you can’t be there for every appointment, phone call, or unexpected change.

That’s where a care manager can make a difference.

✨Attending medical appointments and communicating with providers and you
✨Coordinating care across multiple healthcare professionals
✨Identifying changes in health or needs before they become bigger concerns
✨Providing updates and peace of mind to family members near and far
✨Helping families navigate difficult decisions with confidence
✨ Giving you an accurate picture of what your loved one’s day to day and overall wellbeing is like

Care management isn’t just about coordinating services. It’s about having a trusted advocate who knows your loved one, understands their needs, and helps ensure their voice is heard. Caring for someone shouldn’t mean doing everything alone.

A stroke can impact more than a person’s health. It can affect their independence, daily routines, and the entire family.

Recovery often involves multiple healthcare providers, follow-up appointments, medication changes, rehabilitation, and difficult decisions about what comes next.

Families don’t have to navigate these changes alone. Care managers help coordinate care, communicate with healthcare providers, identify resources, and support families as they adjust to new needs and challenges.

World Stroke Day is October 29. We’re raising awareness about the importance of recognizing stroke symptoms, seeking immediate medical attention, and ensuring individuals and their families have the support they need throughout recovery.

Recovery is about more than getting home. It’s about having the right support in place for what comes next.

The connection between the mouth and the body’s other systems is fascinating! Oral health is essential for overall wellbeing.

Healthy teeth, healthy bodies!

Did you know your oral health is connected to your overall health? Poor oral health, including gum disease, has been linked to other health conditions, such as heart disease and diabetes. Taking care of your teeth and gums is just as important as taking care of the rest of your body!

Make your smile a priority by brushing twice a day, flossing daily, and scheduling regular dental checkups.

When an aging parent needs help, being miles away can make even the simplest situations feel overwhelming.

Who is taking them to appointments? Are they taking their medications correctly? Is someone noticing changes in their health? Who will step in if something unexpected happens? And are they really doing okay and happy, or do they just present well over the phone and FaceTime?

A professional care manager can serve as an extra set of eyes and ears, helping coordinate care, communicate with providers, and advocate for your loved one when you can’t be there yourself.

Peace of mind comes from knowing your loved one has someone in their corner.

If you live out of town, who is looking out for your loved ones?

What does depression have to do with your brain? More than you might think.

We often talk about depression in connection with mental health. But depression can also affect memory, concentration and how we think. And its relationship with brain health becomes especially important as we age.

Depression is more than feeling sad. It is a medical condition that can affect your mood, energy, sleep and ability to manage everyday activities. It can also make it harder to focus, remember information and make decisions.

Research has also found a connection between depression and dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.

People who experience depression may have a higher risk of developing dementia later in life. Depression can also occur alongside Alzheimer’s disease and, in some cases, may be an early symptom of cognitive changes.

That does not mean having depression will lead to Alzheimer’s disease. The relationship is complex and researchers are still working to better understand how these conditions are connected.

For women, this conversation is especially important. Women are more likely to experience depression than men and account for nearly two-thirds of Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease.

The encouraging part is that depression is treatable.

Recognizing symptoms and seeking support can make a meaningful difference in your mental health and quality of life. Treatment may include therapy, medication or a combination of approaches based on your individual needs.

If you notice ongoing changes in your mood, memory or ability to concentrate, talk with your healthcare provider. Understanding what is causing those changes is an important step toward getting appropriate care.

Taking care of your mental health is an important part of taking care of your brain.

Because protecting women’s brain health means looking at the whole picture, including emotional well-being, cognitive health and the choices we make throughout our lives.

Did you know?

1 in 4 people will have a stroke in their lifetime.

Stroke is the most common cause of aphasia.

Aphasia affects speaking, understanding, reading, or writing.

Aphasia from a stroke does NOT affect intelligence. 🧠

The more people who know this, the fewer who feel alone with it.

Share this to help spread awareness. 💙

When we come together, hope grows.
