Vote No on Measure V!

For once, we need to hold city spending and mismanagement accountable. No more hand outs to our city government without them showing us a balanced budget and real wasteful spending cuts across all departments. The People must take back control. We have no more blank checks for taxation!

Vacaville doesn’t need bigger government. We need accountability for the money City Hall already takes from us.

Before asking taxpayers for more, city officials need to justify what they’re spending now. More police and surveillance, more fire trucks, more parks, more CreekWalk concerts, more city-sponsored entertainment; none of it should get a blank check. Neither should buses running with empty seats or more codes telling residents and businesses what they can and cannot do.

Our families have to make tough choices to pay for gas, groceries, and housing. When money gets tight, we have to prioritize. City Hall should be held to that same standard, not treat another tax measure as the answer.

More taxes do not guarantee better services or responsible government. More taxes will not all of a sudden enable the city to create more revenue. In fact, cities never create positive revenue, as soon as they make it, they spend it. And promises are not a substitute for a budget the community can afford.

City government’s job is to deliver essential services responsibly—not keep expanding its role and sending us the bill.

I’m sure every resident knows that no government agency will be here to save us. We need to depend on our Faith, ourselves, our families, our communities and churches. The servants of The People only serve themselves at every level of government. And that’s how it’s been for years now. Taxing us more is not the solution.

Vote NO on Measure V. No to higher taxes. No to bigger city government. Accountability first.

Why do some police officers and firefighters who identify as conservative Republicans support tax increases and liberal politicians whose positions conflict with the values they claim to hold? More taxes and bigger government are not Conservative positions.

I believe some put financial interests ahead of their stated principles when bigger paychecks, pensions, and benefits are on the table. Public service deserves fair compensation, but consistency matters.

I see the same contradiction when law enforcement embraces Flock Safety in the name of convenience and quick results. My concern is that they’re trading traditional patrol work and community relationships for mass surveillance, without giving enough weight to the constitutional rights of the people they serve.

An oath to uphold the Constitution should guide how you pursue public safety, not become an afterthought when technology offers a shortcut.

Enough is enough. No more funding for Flock and mass surveillance. No more trading our values for bloated budgets and wasteful spending.

VOTE NO ON MEASURE V.

Why can’t our elected officials run on a promise to make the tough decisions and balance the budget and not just ask taxpayers for more?

If the city can’t afford something, why are we committing to spending the money?

Vacaville’s own budget presentation says the city is using General Fund reserves to balance its 2026–27 budget, and that’s after a supposed $9 million in “cuts” which the city implemented. Using savings to cover the gap is not the same as bringing ongoing spending in line with ongoing revenue.

Before asking residents to pay more, City Hall should show us a clear plan: What spending takes priority? What can wait? And how will the city stop relying on reserves?

Make real cuts. Everything not absolutely necessary should be on the chop block. Cut flock, drones, creek-walk, fireworks, pools, merriment on main, museums, news anchors as PIO for VPD, PAL programs, any unnecessary upgrades to lighting etc. Dig up any unused phone lines, city equipment, cut contacts with any companies who are doing our public works stuff. Let the city employees work without 1 manager to every 5 people. Cut it all until the budget is balanced. Then come to us in two years, show us a balanced budget, and tell us what the city needs to bring back some of the wants for the city. The exact cost for those services, then ask us for that funding in an honest tax measure. Honesty and transparency are the only way taxpayers will believe city government at this point.

If our elected leaders can’t deliver, we should replace them at the ballot box. If city management can’t deliver, the council should hold management accountable.

Let’s elect people willing to make the tough decisions and balance the dang budget before asking taxpayers for another tax increase.

When police and fire employees push Measure V, residents have a right to ask: whose financial interests are being prioritized?

From the start, the city has pushed both the Police Chief, as well as the Fire Chief, to coerce the taxpayers to support Measure V. Even going as far as having them cut services (homeless team and browning out an ambulance) to show us what will happen if we don’t get behind Measure V.

Many of these positions pay six-figure salaries. Meanwhile, the residents being asked to pay more, make an average of only half of the income of public servants. Taxpayers include working families, retirees, and small-business owners struggling to keep up.

My concern is that this push puts their departments’ financial interests ahead of the financial well-being of the citizens they serve. What benefits a city department does not automatically benefit every taxpayer.

I respect the work our officers and firefighters do. But respecting their service does not mean we cannot question their position on a tax increase—or expect City Hall to control costs before asking us for more.

Vacavilles “Leadership” can’t balance a budget, can’t fix our roads, and rather spend money on more surveillance equipment than first response needs. How embarrassing…
