It is 1:30am and I am still thinking about a conversation I had with my daughter. She woke up at 10pm and came to me in the kitchen as I worked on my computer, catching up on paperwork, after working with clients... be prepared for a novel but I need to get this out.
She asked, "Mom, do you remember last year when we saw that homeless man at the stoplight?" I said yes, that I remembered. She went on and said, "Why didn't we give him money? Why couldn't we help him? This led into talking about the resources in Rochester and about an amazing place, The Landing MN. I mentioned how we help in different ways and that includes the work that I do(and LOVE), donating 'food and hydration' (Aubrey's words) to places that help those without a home, and helping individuals with providing items they need but can not obtain themselves(sometimes anonymously).
The conversation continued into talking about being kind and helping others, with no other motives, or hoping to gain something from the gesture, other than satisfaction in helping your fellow human being.
Especially in today's world, my goal is to create caring, kind, and empathetic children that will grow into capable, compassionate, and empathetic adults. Aubrey is definitely empathetic and compassionate at 7 years old. She keeps me on my toes but very ground to the world around us.
Aubrey will be helping during our next adventure to help others 😀 Please help support the charitable resources in your area, wherever you are and however you can(with your time, money, or items, etc). They are out there, rural and urban, and they ALL need your support.
