I barely use Yelp for anything, however when I first started my business Google gave me the hardest time setting up my GBA so I registered my business on Yelp until that was remedied.

Today, I got an inquiry from Yelp and went to the app to follow up. I learned that Yelp hides reviews and evidently you can’t even dispute them 😤 Almost all of my Yelp reviews are hidden despite being legitimate 😩 Literally only shows one review. Super frustrating.

With that said, if I have helped you for free or provided a paid service you were happy with, I would love if you could leave me a Google and/or Facebook rating and review since Yelp is trash ✨

October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. 🧡

Your pregnancy loss matters.

It matters even if no one knew you were pregnant, even if you never heard a heartbeat, even if you have other children, or even if someone told you "it happens to a lot of people."

No matter what anyone says, your grief is valid. You deserve support and compassion. You are not alone. 🧡

STUDY SURPRISES ZERO BIRTH WORKERS 😅

Yet another study has found a clear association between upright positioning during the active second stage of labor and higher rates of physiological birth. So, basically what many of us already know 😉

And I mean...gravity 👀

Researchers found:
✨ Women who had physiological births more frequently used all fours or a birth stool.
✨ Women who had instrumental births were more often in semi recumbent or lithotomy positions.
✨ For every 10% increase in time spent upright during active pushing, the likelihood of physiological birth increased by 26%.
✨ For every 10% increase in time spent supine, the likelihood of instrumental birth increased by 30%.

This adds to previous research that already showed this. And of course, loads of anecdotal experiences.

For doulas, this probably isn't surprising. Supporting movement, position changes, and working with gravity have long been part of labor support.

Of course, position is only one factor. There isn't one magic trick to ensure how a birth unfolds. However, there are lots of things which help facilitate an increased likelihood of a physiological birth.

Not only do I have photographic evidence of a surgeon doing this locally (I’ll post the photo in the comments if I remember to look for it 🥴), but I have personally been the boots in the OR due to an unexpected homebirth transfer 😅 So, note to other birthworkers: always have a change of shoes ready jusssttt in case 😂
