Do you know how to keep babies safe when they sleep? Follow guidelines for every sleep – nap time and night time:

💤 Place baby on their back, in a crib, bassinet or pack and play for every sleep time.

💤 Use a firm mattress with a tightly fitted sheet.

💤 Keep baby’s sleep space clutter free – no pillows, blankets, bumper pads, or toys.

💤 Keep baby’s sleep space near your bed. They should share a room, not a bed.

💤 Breastfeed your baby, if you can.

💤 Keep baby in a smoke-free and nicotine-free environment.

If you're pregnant or have an infant and you have Medicaid, our Maternal Infant Health Program can help you and your baby stay healthy! Call 734-544-2984 or visit our website for details (link in the comments).

Lyme disease cases keep increasing in . Our new 2025 Lyme disease data brief gives an updated look at recent data:

🔎 237 residents were newly diagnosed with Lyme in 2025. This is the highest number reported in one year since we started tracking cases in 2016.

🔎 Lyme-carrying ticks are here in Washtenaw: 85% cases were exposed to Lyme within our County borders.

🔎 88% of reported Lyme cases were among White residents. Black, Hispanic, and Asian residents are seriously underrepresented, which could mean that diagnoses among non-white residents may be being delayed or missed all together.

🔎 28 residents were hospitalized with Lyme in 2025, which is nearly double the number from 2024 (14).

Dive into the 2025 Lyme data using the link in the comments.

And keep checking for ticks! Last year, sporadic cases of Lyme disease continued into November.

Last night, the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners recognized our staff for responding to two significant outbreaks this year: measles and cyclosporiasis.

The Board passed a resolution honoring our outbreak team's leadership and "extraordinary service and dedication throughout the year inclusive of working tirelessly to contain both a measles and cyclosporiasis outbreak and prevent additional disease and negative impacts in our community."

Our Prevention Specialist, Adrienne Walling, said it perfectly: "I work with some of the most brilliant and most compassionate workers in our County… We come into work every day to make our communities safer and healthier." ❤️

Thank you to our supportive community and Board of Commissioners!
