Anxiety is the most common group of mental health conditions in Australia. About 3.4 million people, roughly 1 in 6, experienced one in a single year.

It does not look the same in everyone. Constant low-level worry is a different experience from a panic attack on a train, and both are different again from avoiding leaving the house at all.

That difference matters, because the support that helps is different too.

Five of the most common are in the post. If you recognise yourself or someone close to you, a conversation with a GP is a good first step.

Our support workers are trained in mental health and psychosocial disability. If you are already working out what support could look like day to day, call us. The meet and greet is free.

The word OCD gets thrown around casually, usually about being tidy. The actual condition sits a long way from that.

Intrusive thoughts that will not leave. Compulsions that bring relief for a few minutes before the cycle restarts. Hours of a day disappearing into it.

About 1 in 28 Australians experienced OCD in a single year, which makes it far more common than most people assume. And most of them already know the thoughts are excessive. That knowledge does not switch them off.

Therapy and medication come from a GP, psychologist or psychiatrist. A support worker helps with the everyday, the routine and the things that quietly stop happening. Many people need both.

Our workers are trained in mental health and psychosocial disability. Book a free meet and greet, link in bio.

Meet Judy 👋💙
Judy is one of our thoughtful and compassionate Support Workers, bringing a background in psychology and therapy assistance to the care she provides. She has experience supporting children’s developmental goals through play-based and structured activities, while helping build communication, confidence, social skills, and independence.
She also has experience supporting individuals with autism, ADHD, developmental and speech-related needs, intellectual disability, anxiety, depression, and trauma.
What we love most about Judy is her patience, empathy, and warm approach. She helps people feel heard, encouraged, and respected, and we’re proud to have her as part of the Astute Living Care team. 🧡

Small steps are still steps forward. 💙
Progress does not always look loud or fast. Sometimes it shows up in quiet ways getting out of bed, trying again, asking for help, or simply choosing to keep going. Every step, no matter how small, matters.
At Astute Living Care, we believe growth happens at your own pace, and every little win deserves to be acknowledged. 🧡
Keep going. Even the quietest steps can move you forward.

Three things veterans and families ask us most.

The short version: if you hold a Veteran Card and a nurse has assessed that you need nursing or personal care at home, DVA funds it. No co-payment, no subsidy, no gap. War widows and widowers holding a card may be eligible too.

The part that catches people out is the referral. It has to be written, and it has to go straight to a DVA contracted provider. A referral from hospital only lasts six weeks, so if care started after a hospital stay, check the date.

Astute Living Care is a DVA contracted community nursing provider. Ask your GP to send a referral our way, or call and we will walk you through it.

Fewer than half of Australians with a mental disorder spoke to a health professional about it.

45.1 per cent. That is the figure from the national study.

Behind that number are waitlists, cost, not knowing which door to knock on, and the quiet assumption that someone else needs it more.

Support does not have to begin with a clinic. For a lot of people it begins with one person turning up consistently, who understands the condition as well as the tasks.

If you have been meaning to look into support for yourself, a family member or a participant, talk to us. The meet and greet is free and there is no obligation.

Choosing a support worker should feel like your decision, because it is.

You should never feel pushed into a match. A free meet and greet lets you, and the person being supported, decide whether the worker feels right before anything is locked in.

Choice and control are central to the NDIS. A quality provider protects that for you.

For autistic participants this first meeting carries real weight. Communication style, predictability and whether the person actually clicks will shape how the support works day to day.

Book a free meet and greet. No pressure, no obligation. Link in bio, or call 1300 764 253.

A number worth knowing this Mental Health Month.

About 65,300 people receive NDIS support because of a mental health condition. That makes psychosocial disability the fourth largest primary disability group in the scheme.

A mental health condition becomes a psychosocial disability when it affects everyday functioning over time. Getting out of the house. Keeping a routine. The ordinary things that quietly stop happening.

The support that helps is practical and consistent. Someone who understands the condition as well as the tasks.

If that sounds like you or someone you support, call us and we will talk through what is possible. The meet and greet is free.

If you have someone waiting on mental health support, we take referrals directly.

We start with the person. Their routine, what has worked before, what has not stuck. Then we match them with a worker who actually fits, and arrange a free meet and greet so they decide before anything is locked in.

Sydney, Wollongong, the Illawarra, South Sydney and Perth.

Call 1300 764 253. Happy to talk it through first if that is easier.
