37 lessons from 37 years around the sun:

1. Fight Attrition at all costs - Everything erodes unless ruthlessly fought after. Skills you had feel unstoppable until you stop - then they feel foreign again.

2. Proximity is the ultimate power - hang around killers and you’ll become a killer. Hang around losers and you’ll become a loser. We like to think we dictate our reality, but in truth our reality dictates us more than we can imagine. Choose carefully.

3. Focus on what you want, not problems - momentum flows where focus goes. Stu on the negative and you reinforce it. Look at the outcome you want and the world moulds you into it.

4. Therapy is good until it isn’t - If you spend years in therapy, you are spending your time focusing on your issues and reinforcing them. Find root causes, understand them and then move on. Anything beyond that is self sabotage or pretending to be doing meaningful work when in actuality regression happens.

5. Balance is one of the worst social constructs we ever created - People who preach “balance” in life either went through extreme periods to get where they want or make excuses for being a master of nothing. You can only truly propel so many things at once and the rest have to live in maintance. Trying to be excellent at everything will lead to endless frustration and no momentum in any.

6. Cardio has been underrated for decades - fitness influencers preach that you can just walk and cut calories to lose weight. Don’t disagree but cardio makes life so much easier because it allows for eating slightly more, better heart health and more energy. I get it cardio sucks but has huge benefits, just do it.

7. Most people lose in the first round - to excel you truly have to eat glass for a really long time to break into something. Success only comes from when you are still going long, long after you got bored. Make it stick or you’ll always be hamster wheel spinning in circles with frustration.

We recently wrapped up our year-end Offsite at Theia Health, and I wanted to share how it went and what made it difficult to pulloff (my one big promise which I had to keep to every team member):

Overall the offsite was fantastic - it built and instilled trust among our ever-growing team members. Being remote first, and since humans are wired to trust people they see, we made a decision to get everyone in-house together over multiple days.

During our time collaborating, we were able to gain “passthrough knowledge transfer” - which is done through natural conversation; others get to understand someone else’s thought process, capabilities, and considerations.

This is not impossible with async work, it’s just much harder and takes longer. Shortcutting it was very advantageous (highly recommend for remote teams).

We also conducted a “big project hackathon” where we solved a major release in about 4 hours to get clarity and fix flows in real-time. It showed the team how we can work together in unity(especially now that we are much bigger) to push big releases forward even faster.

Lastly, we bonded in nature and energy vortexes, aligning with our values as a health-tech company through rejuvenation of body and spirit.

(What made it difficult I wrote in the first comment - post was too long otherwise) ⬇️

Making a significant career change can be daunting, especially when considering health-related fields.

It's essential to evaluate the type of practitioner you want to work with and the feasibility.

Education and content creation can have a broader impact, reaching many people at once.

However, working directly with individuals guarantees a positive effect on their lives.

Finding the right balance between scalability and personal connection is crucial for success.

The pursuit of a longer, healthier life is a common desire among many individuals today.

Innovative treatments like hormone replacement therapy and peptides are gaining popularity in this context.

However, opinions on these therapies remain mixed and often controversial within the medical community.

It's essential to approach these options with careful consideration and informed decision-making.

Ultimately, the goal is to enhance quality of life and maintain health until the end.

Hormonal fluctuations can be unpredictable and challenging to manage for many women.

Each day brings new symptoms and changes that can be difficult to understand and navigate.

This constant variability can lead to feelings of frustration and confusion for those experiencing it.

The analogy of "herding cats" perfectly captures the chaotic nature of hormonal changes.

Recognizing this complexity is essential for better understanding and managing hormonal health effectively.

Humanity has always faced challenges that require innovative solutions to thrive and progress.

From cooking meat to prevent illness, we have continuously adapted to our environment and needs.

This adaptability has led to significant advancements, such as the construction of skyscrapers in urban areas.

The safety of peptides as supplements is questioned due to a lack of long-term studies.

Creatine, on the other hand, has been extensively studied since the 1930s, showing its safety.

The absence of decades of data on peptides raises concerns about their long-term effects on health.

Integrative medicine emphasizes understanding root causes of deficiencies rather than simply supplementing with new products.

A thorough investigation into the safety and efficacy of peptides is essential for informed decisions.

Investing in health can seem expensive, but the value of life is immeasurable.

When faced with the possibility of losing existence, financial concerns often become secondary.

People are willing to go to great lengths, even taking on debt, to secure their health.

Many people are frustrated with the high costs of health insurance today.

They pay significant monthly premiums but rarely utilize their benefits.

This leads to questions about the value of their insurance coverage.

High deductibles create a barrier to accessing necessary healthcare services.

Ultimately, individuals are left feeling uncertain about their financial investment in health insurance.

The convergence of technology often leads to significant innovation and rapid advancements in various fields.

A prime example of this phenomenon is the emergence of ride-sharing services like Uber.

The iPhone's introduction revolutionized mobile technology, enabling users to access powerful applications on-the-go.

As internet speeds improved, the feasibility of ordering a car through an app became a reality.

This illustrates how interconnected technological advancements can create entirely new industries and opportunities.

The early 2000s brought significant advancements in genetics, sparking high expectations for innovation.

However, the anticipated breakthroughs in biotechnology and medicine have not materialized as expected.

Instead, the last two decades have seen mostly incremental progress rather than revolutionary changes.

This raises questions about the pace of scientific innovation and its impact on society.

Reflecting on these developments can help us understand the complexities of scientific advancement today.
