POV: We’re all besties until someone says, “The first one to lose buys coffee!” 😭😂☕️

Suddenly, it’s the Squat Olympics and nobody’s legs are allowed to give up! 🍑💪🤣 The real question is… who’s paying for everyone’s coffee tomorrow? 👀😂

Every child deserves to be heard, understood, and supported. 💗🗣️

When a child stutters, patience and understanding can make all the difference. Give them time to express themselves, listen without interrupting, and focus on their message rather than how they speak.

✨ Be patient.
💕 Listen with kindness.
🌸 Let them speak at their own pace.

Remember, it’s not about how fluently a child speaks, but about making sure they feel heard. 💗

💬 Myth: “An AAC device will stop my child from talking.”

Fact: research shows AAC supports communication and can encourage speech. It doesn’t replace the goal of talking, it gives a child a way to connect while their communication grows.

Giving a child a voice, in any form, is never a step backwards. 💛

🌍 Myth: raising a child bilingual delays their speech.

Fact: it doesn’t. Growing up with two or more languages does not cause speech or language delay.

You might notice your child mixing languages in one sentence. That’s completely normal, and a sign their brain is working with both. Keep speaking the languages that come naturally to your family. 💛

In a country as multilingual as ours, this one matters.

📱 Trending in child development: “technoference.”

New 2026 research links more background and solo screen time to fewer words and fewer back-and-forth conversations, the very things that build language. Even a parent’s own phone use can quietly reduce chat.

The fix isn’t guilt, it’s small swaps:
• narrate what you’re doing together
• watch with your child and talk about it
• keep some phone-free pockets in the day

Connection is the therapy. 💛

👂 October is also Audiology Awareness Month.

Hearing is where speech and language begin, so it helps to know the signs a child may not be hearing well:
• doesn’t turn to their name
• wants the TV or tablet very loud
• speech is slow to develop
• frequent ear infections
• seems to “ignore” you, or asks “what?” often

Hearing can change over time. If any of these sound familiar, a hearing check is a good idea. 🩶

👶 What speech often looks like around the first birthday.

By around 12 months, many little ones:
• say one or two words like “mama” or “dada”
• wave, point, and show you things
• respond to simple phrases like “come here”
• try to copy the sounds you make

Milestones are ranges, not exact dates. Every child grows at their own pace. 💛
