Sometimes, you have to write it out before you can work through it.
Trauma can leave us carrying stories we never had the words to tell.
Writing can create a safe space to put those experiences somewhere outside of ourselves. You can write what happened, what you felt, what you never got to say, or even what you wish had happened differently.
You don't have to write beautifully.
You don't have to make sense of it.
You don't even have to show it to anyone.
Just start putting words to what has been living inside you.
Writing doesn't erase trauma, and it isn't a replacement for professional support. But for many people, it can be a powerful part of the healing process, helping you process emotions, understand your story, find your voice and slowly separate what happened to you from who you are.
Sometimes healing begins with a blank page and the courage to write:
"This happened.
This hurt me.
But this is not the end of my story."
And if you're carrying a story that feels too heavy to carry alone, you don't have to figure it all out by yourself. Reaching out to someone you trust or a qualified professional can be a gentle first step.
Sometimes, support begins with simply saying, "I need someone to talk to."
