🎀 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and at GP4Me Vredekloof, we believe every story is unique, and every journey matters.
Whether you've been personally affected, know someone who has, or simply want to take better care of yourself, this post is for you.
Early detection is the most powerful tool we have.
It starts with knowing your own body, monthly self-exams, regular clinical breast exams with your GP, and mammograms from age 40 (or earlier with a family history). You don't need to feel something wrong to get checked. In fact, coming in before that is exactly the point.
Symptoms worth knowing:
🔹 A new lump or thickening in the breast or underarm
🔹 Changes in size, shape, or skin texture
🔹 Ni**le changes, like inversion, discharge, or redness
🔹 Persistent pain or swelling around the breast or armpit
If any of these sound familiar, please don't wait.
See your GP. It may be nothing. But it's always worth checking.
💙 This week (17–23 October) is Men's Breast Cancer Awareness Week.
Breast cancer is not exclusively a women's disease. Men can and do develop it, and because it's less expected, it's often caught later.
The symptoms are the same. The advice is the same. Come in.
At GP4Me, our team offers clinical breast examinations in a safe, private, and judgement-free space, for everyone.
