Ways Disabled Wheelchair Users Are Infantilized & Dehumanized:

• Being spoken to in a baby voice
• Being praised for "basic" tasks like existing in public
• Strangers asking our caregivers questions instead of us
• Being touched, pushed, or repositioned
without consent
• Being called "inspirational" just for living
our lives
• Assumptions that we're mentally incapable
• Having our autonomy questioned
constantly
• People speaking over us "for our own
good"
• Being pitied instead of respected
• Having our needs dismissed as "too
complicated"
• Being excluded from adult conversations
• Being assumed to be fragile, or helpless
