Against all logic & sense, I have begun coiling a huge new vase...results may be catastrophic. Stay tuned.

Creative living is living from a place of curiosity rather than fear. Many people say. "I'm not artistic," or "I'm just not a creative person," but in my experience, anyone is capable of being creative. It just takes a willingness to try (and fail), making for the pleasure of it rather than the outcome, and being open minded and curious about new things.

99% of the people who have come to our pottery workshops have never touched clay before. Most are pleasantly surprised at what they're capable of. More importantly, they enjoy the process of creating.

I don't know what the future holds for Joy Factory, but I'm proud that I've been able to share my knowledge and my love of ceramics with people, and hopefully, brought a little more joy into their lives.

Thank you for a year of playing with clay.

This is what makes it worth doing ❤️
Thank you to the women who shared this special retreat with me, I'm so incredibly honoured and proud.

Thank you to everyone who has been on my pottery journey with me, and allowed me the privilege of sharing my love for ceramics with them.

I have loved helping people to reconnect with their creativity, and find a bit of joy in this often dark and stressful world.

Here's to a year I'll never forget.

Handbuilding Pottery is such a tactile and meditative process. With life being...well, very life-y lately, I find myself drawn back to clay again and again, to slow down and quiet my noisy thoughts.

These decorative 'face plates' are some of my favourite new pieces ❤️ and I was so happy that this one found a new home, bought by this lovely person at the last Potters Market.
It always warms my heart when other people love the things I've made with my own hands.
Each plate is unique, one of a kind, made slowly and thoughtfully by hand.....in my kitchen (for now) 😉

So, 2 things from my side:

1. Orders: if you'd like to adopt your own plate, or commission a new design, please feel free to get in touch! I always appreciate people supporting my small business.

2. Workshops: if you'd like to learn about handbuilding pottery, I'd love to have you join our special upcoming retreat, 'Creative Rest' 17-18 October in Elgin Valley W.C. The link to book is in our bio, and there are 1 Day tickets available if you're short on time but big on pottery!

You can also join Clay Club to receive the very occasional email about upcoming workshops and events (go to the linktree in our bio or send a message)

Much love to all,

Kate x
