October marks one year since I launched A-Ha Breath, and I’ve been reflecting on the story behind the name.
When I first chose ‘A-Ha Breath’, I knew I wanted the name to capture something about what happens through the breath. But over this past year, I think I’ve come to understand it even more deeply.
There are three layers to it:
1) HA - the breath of life.
In the Hawaiian language, Hā translates to breath, exhale, or the ‘breath of life’, and represents a person’s vital energy, spirit and connection to the Divine or Source.
I loved the idea of honouring something so simple, yet so fundamental - every breath is life.
2) A-HA - the moment of realisation.
That moment when something suddenly becomes clear.
A new perspective, a deeper understanding. a remembering of something you already knew but had lost touch with.
Through Conscious Connected Breathwork, we can move beyond the busyness of the thinking mind and create space for insight, awareness, intuition and deeper connection with ourselves.
These A-ha moments can ripple far beyond the breathwork session itself.
3) Aaaah - the exhale.
That sound we naturally make when we let out a deep breath. The sigh of relief, the letting go.
And this is the part that has felt most significant to me this year, because sometimes we need to let go before we can make space for something new.
When I started A-Ha Breath, I didn't know exactly where this journey would take me. But one year in, I can see how perfectly the name captures what this work means to me.
And that’s one of the things I love most about breathwork - you don't have to arrive knowing what you need. You just arrive, you breathe, and you allow the breath to meet you where you are.
Sometimes it brings release, sometimes clarity, sometimes connection, sometimes just a deep Aaaah! And sometimes, something shifts that ripples into the rest of your life and the world around you!
One year of breathing, learning, releasing, witnessing, holding space and sharing this work.
And I feel incredibly grateful for every person who has breathed with me along the way. ✨
