Pattern block activities develop so much more than just shape and colour recognition! These skills play an important role in preparing little ones for classroom learning. 📚✨

🧠 Visual Perception:
The ability to recognise and interpret what we see. This helps children recognise letters, numbers, shapes and differences between similar-looking symbols when reading and writing.

👀 Visual-Motor Integration (VMI):
The ability to coordinate what we see with our hand movements. This is essential for handwriting, copying from the board, drawing shapes and keeping letters and numbers correctly positioned on a page.

🔍 Visual Closure:
The ability to recognise a whole object or shape when only part of it is visible. This helps children recognise letters and words even when they are partially obscured or presented in different contexts, supporting reading fluency.

🧩 Spatial Awareness:
Understanding the position and orientation of objects in relation to one another. This supports correct letter and number formation, spacing between words, organising written work on a page and understanding concepts such as above, below, left and right.

✋ Fine Motor Skills: Developing precise hand and finger movements. These are important for holding and controlling a pencil, writing neatly, cutting with scissors and manipulating classroom materials.

💡 Problem-Solving & Concentration:
Planning where each piece belongs, identifying mistakes and staying focused. These skills help children follow instructions, complete classroom tasks and work through challenges independently.

We’re coming together for a special evening of dancing, laughter and good vibes - all while helping an incredibly brave little girl. 🥹💕

Precious Colbie is turning 4 in December and has faced more challenges in her young life than most of us could ever imagine. She lives with a myopathy linked to the CLCN1 gene, which affects her muscles, swallowing, movement and ability to speak.

The funds raised from the sokkie will help towards her ongoing speech therapy, physiotherapy, OT and potential special needs equipment that is required - let’s help give our little warrior the best chance at a more comfortable and independent life. 🙏🏼

Grab your friends, put on your dancing shoes and come sokkie for a cause that truly matters! 💞
