Happy ADHD awareness month🥳🎗

ADHD is a lifelong disorder which can affect many areas of a child's daily life, such as their attention, ability to plan, organise and prioritise📔. It can also affect their impulse control and emotional regulation.

ADHD is NOT a lack of willpower or intelligence🧠💪. People with ADHD have their own superpowers🦸🏾‍♂️⚡️.

Many children with ADHD are extremely creative🎨, able to thrive under pressure💹, extra empathetic🫂 and resilient during hard times🦁.

Children with ADHD should be treated with understanding and patience, but never with pity, lowered expectations or the idea that they are incapable.

Let's always do our best to celebrate and encourage our kids with ADHD to be proud of and use these superpowers🦸🏻‍♀️⚡

🤍 Little victories today, greater independence tomorrow. 🌱

In paediatric OT, progress isn't always measured by big milestones. Sometimes, it's a button fastened independently, a new skill mastered, the courage to try again, or a little one doing something they once thought was too difficult. 🧸✨

Every small step matters. Every effort counts. And every little victory deserves to be celebrated. Because we're not just building skills — we're nurturing confidence, independence, and the ability to participate in the everyday moments that make childhood so special. 🌈

Here's to celebrating every little victory, one step at a time. 💛

⏰ Why does homework sometimes take FOREVER?✏️

If homework takes your child much longer than you expected, it’s not always because they’re “not trying” or “being difficult.”

Sometimes, the skills needed to complete homework—like attention, working memory, processing speed, visual skills, fine motor skills and emotional regulation—can make a simple task feel much harder than it looks.🧠💪

💡 Understanding why homework is difficult is often the first step towards finding ways to make it easier.

Swipe through to see some of the reasons homework might be taking longer than expected—and what you can look out for. ➡️

And remember: struggling with a task doesn’t mean your child isn’t capable. Sometimes they just need the right support.💛

💚 World Cerebral Palsy Day 💚

Cerebral Palsy is more than a diagnosis — and every person with CP experiences it differently.

While CP can affect movement, posture, and coordination, it can also influence everyday activities such as playing, learning, communicating, dressing, eating, and interacting with others.

As occupational therapists, our focus is not simply on what a child can or cannot do. We look at how we can support them to participate in the things that are meaningful to them. 🌱

Today, we celebrate the individuality, strengths, achievements, and potential of every person living with Cerebral Palsy.

Who’s most likely to…? 👀😂

We put our team to the test! From the most organised to the one who is always jonesing for a cup of coffee, it’s safe to say we know each other pretty well. 🤭

But behind all the laughs, there’s something we’re reminded of every day in OT: Participation Matters. 💛

Occupational Therapy is about helping children participate in the things that matter to them — whether that’s playing with friends, getting dressed, joining in at school, learning a new skill, or simply being part of everyday family life.

Because therapy isn’t just about what a child *can* do. It’s about helping them take part, connect, play, learn and enjoy life. ✨

Happy OT Week! 💙

There’s something pretty special about being trusted with someone else’s little person. 🤍

We get to step into their world, meet them where they are, and help them find ways to do the things they love, need, and want to be part of.

Because at the heart of Occupational Therapy, it’s not just about what a child can do — it’s about being able to participate in life.🫶🏼

Play. School. Friendships. Family. Everyday moments.

Participation matters. And getting to help make those moments possible is why we love what we do. 🌈

Participation matters. ✨

As Occupational Therapists, we don’t only look at what a child can or can’t do. We look at how their skills impact their ability to take part in the things that matter to them — playing with friends, joining in at school, getting dressed, eating with the family, exploring their environment and simply being part of everyday life. 💛

Every skill we work on has a bigger purpose: helping children participate, connect and enjoy life to their fullest.

This OT Week, we’re celebrating the little steps that make meaningful participation possible. 🌈
