A blood pressure reading measures the force of blood pushing against your artery walls and is recorded as two numbers (measured in mmHg)

Measures the maximum pressure in your arteries when your heart contracts and pumps blood out.
Measures the minimum pressure in your arteries while your heart muscle relaxes between beats.
If your blood pressure is consistently higher than 140/90mmHg then you may have high blood pressure.
High blood pressure is not a disease in itself. However, it can lead to an increased risk of heart disease and strokes.
