Today, we were reminded that Ubomi started before it actually started.
When we first moved to Gauteng, we quickly realised just how expensive everything was. Eating out wasn't something we could afford to do often, so we decided that if we couldn't always go out for the experiences we wanted, we'd create them at home.
We were intentional about buying our first dining table. We found recipes to try, recreated meals that held special memories for us, and spent time connecting over food. Somewhere in all of that, we discovered so much joy in the simple things — cooking together, trying something new, sharing a meal and making our home a place we genuinely enjoyed being in.
Looking back, we can see that this was Ubomi taking shape long before we gave it a name.
When we speak about Intentionality, Connection and Abundance as the Ubomi Experience pillars, we are speaking about what we have taken from our own lived experience. From learning to be intentional about the life we wanted to create, finding connection in the everyday, and discovering that abundance isn't always about having more. Sometimes, it's about making the most of what you have.
Today, we're excited to see Ubomi grow into different expressions, from the products we create to the stories we tell and the experiences we hope to share. Different expressions, but all rooted in the same things that started it all.
And that's what Ubomi will always come back to: celebrating the essence of living. ❤️
