DID YOU KNOW? YOU WERE BORN WITH ALL THE EGGS YOU'LL EVER HAVE!
Your fertility journey actually began long before you were born! 🤍
Unlike men, who continuously produce new s***m, women are born with a lifetime supply of immature eggs, which are stored inside their ovaries.
Here are some fascinating facts about your eggs:
🌷 Before birth: At around 20 weeks of pregnancy, a female fetus has approximately 6–7 million immature eggs in her developing ovaries.
🌷 At birth: That number has already decreased to approximately 1–2 million.
🌷 By puberty: Only around 300,000–500,000 eggs remain.
🌷 During your reproductive years: Typically, only about 400–500 eggs will be ovulated throughout your lifetime. The majority naturally break down and are absorbed by the body.
🌷 As you age: Both egg quantity and egg quality naturally decline, with the decline generally becoming more significant during your mid-to-late 30s.
💗 But here's something important to remember!
Having fewer eggs doesn't automatically mean you can't get pregnant. Fertility is influenced by many factors, including ovulation, egg quality, s***m health, reproductive health and age.
🌿 Can you improve your egg health?
Although you cannot replenish your ovarian reserve, you can support your overall reproductive health through:
🥑 Eating a balanced, nutrient-rich diet.
💤 Getting enough quality sleep.
🚶♀️ Staying physically active.
🚭 Avoiding smoking and va**ng
💊 Taking appropriate preconception supplements, including folic acid, when planning a pregnancy.
These healthy habits support your body, but they cannot reverse ovarian ageing or guarantee improved egg quality.
Your body is truly fascinating, and understanding how it works is one of the first steps towards making informed decisions about your reproductive health. 🌸
