A prosthesis is about more than mobility. It can also be about feeling comfortable, capable and confident in yourself. 🫶🏼

Finding the right fit and solution for you is important but so is building the confidence to use it in everyday life. 💪🏾

⭐ The “magic carpet” effect.

Sometimes, when you’re at your prosthetist and everything feels perfect, it can feel like you’re walking on a magic carpet. ✨

But once you leave and start moving through everyday life, reality hits. Different surfaces, longer distances and everyday movement can reveal things you didn’t notice during the fitting.

That’s why it’s so important to speak up when something doesn’t feel right. 👣

Pain, pressure, discomfort or changes in the way you’re walking are worth mentioning. Small adjustments can make a big difference to how you move and feel in your prosthesis. 🦿

As Veli says: “If something feels off, say something.” 🗣️

Can you exercise with a prosthesis? 👣 Absolutely! 💪🏽🏃‍♂️

A prosthesis doesn't have to mean giving up an active lifestyle. Depending on the individual, their abilities and their prosthetic setup, many different activities may be possible.. From walking and cycling to gym workouts etc. 🚶‍♂️🚴‍♂️🏋️‍♀️

The important thing is finding a solution that works with your lifestyle, your goals and the activities you enjoy. 🎯

Every journey is different. Every goal matters.✨

🦿 What is a prosthetic socket?

The socket is one of the most important parts of a prosthesis, it creates the connection between the person and their prosthetic limb.

A good fit can make a difference to comfort, stability, movement and overall function. 🚶‍♂️💪🏽

And because every person is different, there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Each prosthetic solution needs to be considered around the individual's body, lifestyle and goals. 😅

🦿 Why does prosthetic alignment matter?

In this Reël, velimbatha shares his perspective on why getting the alignment of a prosthesis right is so important.

When alignment isn’t right, your body may start to compensate, which can affect the way you move and potentially place extra strain on other areas of the body. 🚶‍♂️

From his experience, getting the right alignment is about more than just the prosthesis, it’s about how the whole body moves together. 💪🏽

🎥 Listen to Veli explain why alignment matters.

Getting a prosthesis is more than simply receiving a device. 🦿✨

It is a journey. One that involves understanding the individual, their lifestyle, their goals and their unique needs. ❤️

From the initial assessment and measurements to the design, fitting and first steps, every stage plays an important role in creating a prosthetic solution that supports movement and function. 🚶‍♂️💪🏽

And the journey doesn’t end after the fitting. Ongoing care, follow-ups and adjustments can be an important part of the process too. 🙌🏽
