A stroke can change the way someone moves, sometimes in ways that aren’t immediately obvious.
Weakness, changes in muscle tone, reduced balance or difficulty controlling the foot can all make walking and everyday activities more challenging. And while the initial treatment for a stroke happens in hospital, recovery continues long after leaving those hospital doors.
Orthotic support can form an important part of rehabilitation for some people, helping to provide stability, support the foot and ankle, and assist with a safer and more efficient walking pattern.
This World Stroke Day, we’re recognizing not only the challenges that can follow a stroke, but also the progress, determination and small victories that happen along the way.
