Your Horse's Lumps & Bumps

20/10/2024

17th Century French philosopher Rene Descartes once said “if you can’t taste it, touch it, smell it, hear it or see it – it doesn't exist”. According to this theory if we cannot see heat, inflammation and pain in a horse, then they don’t exist??? This of course is ridiculous - they may not be able to be seen through the lens of the human eye or digital lens, but when viewed through an infrared lens, the unseen becomes seen.
The pony in these images ploughed into a jump at a show. The digital photo shows exactly what you would see through the lens of your eye. However, when looking through an infrared lens, the real picture can be seen - this is what the horse would like you to know!
When you are able to see the actual evidence of what is happening in your horse. You are then better able to understand why he may be misbehaving and you will know ‘where and how’ to treat.

I have given all my animals a good and even a great send off. It's never easy to let them go but when it's time I let them gently slip away surrounded by their friends and the family who loved them dearly.

The day our last horse was put to sleep he was surrounded by myself, my sister and my daughters. We groomed him, we kissed him, we platted his mane and he even ate donuts 🍩

With the horror that has come to light in Ireland and the abuse these poor animals receive in their final hours I hope that something will change for the better. Shame on the racing industry for not doing better "who turn their eyes and minds away from their eventual slaughter never really possessed that pure love for their horse".

I understand that horses get injured but for god sake get the animal put to sleep and not sent to Auschwitz for horses aka Shannonside food in co Kildare.

It is interesting to note that in this sample of 10 different horses, the thermal signature is always different. All these horses have back issues in varying degrees. This will generally surface as behavioral problems when ridden.
