Former PF Councillor for Raphael Chota Ward, Bornface Bwalya, has announced his intention to contest the Mandevu Constituency parliamentary seat under the Tonse Pamodzi Alliance.
๐ Councillor Bwalya disclosed his intentions during a telephone interview with the media, saying he was ready to step forward and offer leadership at parliamentary level.
๐ฃ๏ธ โI am stepping forward and aspiring to run as MP on Tonse,โ the former councillor said.
Bwalya said his experience in leadership and understanding of the Mandevu Constituency had motivated him to seek the parliamentary position.
๐ฌ โI have vast experience in leadership and understand Mandevu Constituency, and I think it is high time I come to the forefront to offer leadership,โ he said.
๐ณ๏ธ Commenting on the outcome of the 2026 General Election, Bwalya said he did not consider the allianceโs performance in the constituency to have amounted to a straightforward defeat.
๐ฃ๏ธ โWe did not lose in the actual sense. You see, initially the Tonse Pamodzi Alliance fielded Resolute Party in Lusaka and Copperbelt, even though our NRPUP colleagues got the ballot vote. We took it as paving the way for them because they were our alliance partners, and that is why we did not challenge the results in court,โ he explained.
๐ Bwalya has since engaged Tonse Pamodzi Alliance structures across Mandevu Constituency as he begins consultations ahead of the parliamentary contest.
๐ค He has also met with some councillors who contested the 2026 elections on the Resolute Party ticket.
๐ฟ๐ฒ The former councillorโs announcement marks the beginning of his public campaign to secure the Tonse Pamodzi Allianceโs parliamentary candidacy for Mandevu.
