Booked our 20th anniversary trip… turns out, we're only celebrating 19 years!🤦‍♀️😂

I got a little ahead of myself when booking our trip to Hayman Island! At least the holiday is sorted, even if my maths isn't. 😂🏝️

But hey, 19 wonderful years together is still worth celebrating! 🥂💚

Some days I feel more like a children's entertainer than a nutritionist!

Giant teeth, digestive experiments, p**p conversations and occasionally being asked for my autograph!

But there's a reason behind all the madness.

When kids are laughing, asking questions and getting involved, they're discovering how their bodies work in ways that actually make sense to them.

And sometimes the most unexpected questions lead to the BEST conversations.

Teachers, 2027 bookings are now open! If you'd love to bring some hands-on nutrition education to your school, get in touch. 💚

From scones to witches to a salt cave. As you do. 😂

Dropped my son off at a birthday party in Mundoolun, 40 minutes from home. Rather than drive all the way back, I decided to see what was nearby.

Five minutes down the road, I stumbled across the cutest little place Salt & Soul

One minute I’m enjoying freshly baked scones, a cup of tea and a beautiful view over the duck pond. Next minute, I’m surrounded by a coven of witches making broomsticks for Halloween! 🧹🧙‍♀️

And somehow, I ended up spending 45 minutes relaxing in a salt cave.

Now I’m sitting here watching the ducks, feeling surprisingly refreshed.

I’m usually someone who likes to have everything planned out, but there’s something pretty wonderful about having absolutely no plans and just seeing where the day takes you.

Sometimes the best little adventures happen when you simply poke your head in somewhere and say, “Oh, what’s this?” ❤️

More unplanned days like this, please!

Different rooms. Different people. Same message. 💚

One day, I’m teaching kids about digestion. The next, I’m chatting with teenagers or adults about stress, nutrition, and understanding their bodies.

The funny thing is, no matter how old we get, we’re still figuring out why our bodies do what they do! 😂 From tummy troubles to stress affecting our appetite, there’s always something new to learn about ourselves.

And that’s what I love about these conversations. Different ages, different questions, but we're all learning to understand our bodies a little better. 💚

What if the thing we should be worried about this Halloween isn't the lollies… but what kids are learning to believe about them? 👀🍬

Picture a kid coming home from trick-or-treating with a bag full of goodies. They're excited, picking out their favourites, probably negotiating with their siblings over who got the better treats. 😂

It's all fun and games until certain foods start being labelled as “bad” or something to feel guilty about.

And that's the bit I think we need to talk about.

I want kids to be able to enjoy a lolly without feeling like they need to feel guilty about it. I want them to grow up understanding their bodies, feeling comfortable around food, and knowing that enjoying something sweet doesn't have to come with a side of guilt. 💚

Because Halloween should be about the costumes, the fun, and the questionable amount of lollies in everyone's bags. 😂 Not food guilt.

What did you hear about sweets growing up? Did you get to enjoy them freely, or were they always treated as a bit of a forbidden treasure? 👀

Ever smelled something so good that your mouth started watering before you even saw the food? 😂

Or thought about what you’re having for dinner and suddenly couldn’t stop thinking about food? Like… okay, brain, we haven’t even started cooking yet. 😭

That’s not your body being dramatic (okay, maybe a little 🤭). When you see, smell, or even think about food, your brain can start getting your digestive system ready for what’s coming.

Basically, by the time that first bite reaches your mouth, your body’s already one step ahead. 😂🧠🍽️

One smell. One bite. And suddenly you're back in 1995! 😂

Grandma's Christmas pudding, a hot sausage roll from the school tuckshop, or that unmistakable smell of popcorn at the movies. 🍿

Funny how food can take us places without us even leaving the room, isn't it?

And there's actually some fascinating science behind it!

Our sense of smell is closely connected to the parts of our brain involved in memory and emotion. Which is why certain aromas can bring back memories we haven't thought about in YEARS.

This is one of the reasons I love teaching mindful eating in my workshops. 💚

We use ALL five senses to explore food. Not to judge it as good or bad, but to get curious, slow down and actually ENJOY the experience.

Because food isn't just fuel.

It's birthdays, family traditions, laughter, connection and memories.

Sometimes the best thing food brings to the table isn't even on the plate. 🧡

You know when you’re SO hungry that you basically inhale your food… and then suddenly realise you’ve been eating while thinking about work, the kids, your phone, tomorrow’s schedule… everything except the food in front of you? 😂

Your body might be ready for the meal, but your brain is still running around like it has 14 tabs open. 👀

When your nervous system senses stress, it can respond as though you need to deal with a threat — whether that’s a tiger chasing you or your never-ending to-do list. Your body shifts into survival mode, and digestion can take a back seat.

That’s where that little pause before eating can actually be useful.

Your brain and digestive system are constantly communicating, and taking a moment to breathe can help shift your body out of “GO GO GO” mode and into more of a “Okay, we’re eating now” state.

So before your next meal, try one mindful breath.

Not a 20-minute meditation.
Not a complicated routine.

Just one breath.

It’s your body’s way of going, “Alright everyone, meeting adjourned. We’re eating now.” 😂💚

Guess who’s heading back to ACC for round THREE! 👀🧡

Third year at ACC, and it’s the same teachers booking me back, just with a new group of kids every time! 😂

At this point, I’m starting to wonder who’s more excited for these workshops… the kids or the teachers. 👀

Jokes aside, I love seeing teachers get involved, join in, and have just as much fun as the kids. Makes the whole experience even better. 💚

Ever wondered why your friend can eat a whole meal and carry on with their day while you're mentally negotiating with your waistband? 😂

Your body has a LOT going on behind the scenes, and eating the food is only half the story!

Sleep, stress, hormones, genetics, and how your body processes and absorbs nutrients can all play a part in how you feel after eating. Which means someone else's food experience isn't necessarily going to be yours.

So instead of comparing your plate, your appetite, or your post-lunch experience with someone else's, get curious about what YOUR body is telling you. 👀🧡

Because it's not just about what goes IN your mouth, it's what happens AFTER. Remember, you are what you ABSORB! 💚
